Another licensed game I played just for the late great Lance Reddick, he delivers an affable working class man performance that stands apart from the standard set by Perlman and is all the better for it. Much like John Wick Hex, this has some fun and ambitious ideas limited by budget and time. The rougelite elements are simple, and while there’s some early difficulty once you upgrade the grenade launcher you quickly realize the ideal set up is that and any run upgrades that increase reload speed, ammo capacity, and damage output. The game just becomes shoot and reload, and the accomplishment first felt at blowing the game wide open gives way to monotony. Still, the gorgeous art style, some fun writing and worldbuilding, endearing characters, and most of all Lance Reddick make this a pleasant and fun enough time, if not one I’d recommend most people 100% like I did.

Does it make me feel like John Wick? Not especially. There are moments I feel smooth and that the clips at the end almost look fluid, but this ultimately doesn’t capture that feeling. But they took a swing, and I admire this kind of liscensed game being weirdly ambitious and charmingly janky. We don’t get that a lot these days. It makes me think, you can get into a rhythm, and it’s a pretty satisfying way to kill time. And it’s another chance to hear Lance Reddick. RIP to a king.

The main story has never been more fun and endearing, there's much more single player content than 7, and the faster pace is a much appreciated boost in the arm.
