I love this game so much.
- Great Music.
- Great Gameplay.
- Top notch drifting mechanics.
- Lots of replayability.
The only thing I'm not the greatest fan of is the rather specific methods needed to unlock Missions from the Ladies compared to the flagman, plus a butt-load of money is needed to unlock everything.
At least you can put in a money cheat easily.

Ferrari and SEGA together are like milk and honey. The only other game I can think of which celebrated a vehicle brand like this is Need For Speed Porsche, even if it doesn't have any trivia infos and it's as arcadey as it gets, it's still a great homage to this great brand.
The particular Coast 2 Coast version has some additional content from cars to levels and such. Levels are a nice change of pace and you'd have to earn credits to buy some particular models you want (360 Modena my beloved)
Drifting needs a bit of practice but once you get the gist of it, the handling model is super satisfying. Unfortunately the second half of the driving missions are so unforgivingly difficult, mostly the ones with ai opponents; they have a very intense rubberbanding. Which is unsurprising considering the fact that this is originally an Arcade cabinet game.

Can't think of a more definitive driving game. OutRun's romantic vistas and roadsmart gameplay get translated perfectly to 3D, with tasteful additions like the slipstream, drifting and a cute mission mode where you make your girlfriend happy while driving that are absolutely faithful to the original game's purity. You could argue this sequel is a much easier game than the first, but it's above all a much more cozy game to play. Now you don't have to worry about things like guessing depth perception or playing tug of war with every turn! It's smooth driving and decision making at its most distilled, making for a game that's easy to indulge and explore to your heart's content.
I may have a fear of driving or a massive disinterest in car culture on the whole, but I love OutRun 2.

It's without a doubt a charming game in all aspects, but unfortunately I did not enjoy the later stages. The rubber banding is brutal and really ruins the whole experience.
I think it's a title that could use a modern reboot, since aside from the frustrating late game, there's a lot to like here. Can't help, but have a smile on your face when everything clicks.

the UK is warming up, and as such i thought i would play a sunny game to match that. outrun 2006 absolutely nails the hedonism and escapism. what it lacks in the variety of mechanics you get to work with present in other arcade racers, it makes up for in style, summertime vibes, and a great batch of memorable tracks and music. keeping things simpler really pays off here, even if it does lead to the game feeling a teeny tiny bit monotonous. the various modes are fun on their own, however can get a bit repetitive if you're playing through the campaign.
impressing your girlfriend through comitting various acts of heinous vehicular ABH never gets old, and i love how every rank you can score on these levels has a different reaction image. very fun to try and see them all. ignoring the special place in hell reserved for the spudnet-brained dingmush that created the abominable shitecunt nightmare hellfucks that are the 'keep above the speed' and the 'photograph the sights' missions for jennifer and holly respectively, there's rarely a dull moment while playing this game. great arcade racer and i will be returning to it soon to try out outrun 2 sp.

Excellent arcade romp, nicely captures the spirit of the original OutRun. Cruising through paradise in an incredibly fast car with catchy music - a wonderful vibe that never gets old!
This version introduces unlockables and a campaign style mode with various challenges and races, and unlockable cars, music, etc. Some of the challenges are frustrating at times but it's a great way to make your time with the game more purposeful, though ultimately I think the best experience can be found in the arcade style modes.

Keep in mind that OutRun was designed to give you cheap thrills at 100¥ a pop, not to provide a long winded "campaign", "tour", or "career" sim. And what a thrill it is. An unmatched audio-visual driving experience that's beaming with personality. It's infinitely fun and being able to play it on a handheld (though somewhat compromised), anytime and anywhere, is a gift. Add this to your library if you can, because even for a few minutes here and there, your life will be better for it.
