Slime Rancher 1 is still probably the better game right now, but this has enough improvements slime rancher's basic gameplay to be worth it. The upgrade system is better and there's plenty of new slimes, but SR1 just has more content right now. Should be the better game by the time it leaves E.A. 7.7/10
I enjoyed this game almost as much as I enjoyed the first entry, however I was expecting just a bit more from something that should be a sequel. I can tell that I could sink just as much time into this game, and that I don't regret the purchase in the slightest, but I am left hoping for more to be added. I've set it to the side for now.
There are a lot of improvements over the original game here. At the same time there is a HUGE downgrade in the "Rancher" part of the game. In that it is now completely unnecessary to do... In the previous game, there was a need to have a huge amount of money to unlock stuff, which gave ranching a purpose. That's just.. not here. So the game feels more like just wandering around unlocking parts of the world and looking at the pretty slimes and graphics.
Still a great game, but it just doesn't have what made the first game so special to me... maybe when the game is fully released they will address that issue.

Really creative, I really enjoyed the new slimes, food, chickens and specially the map design.
The music was really good and appropriate.
I like how the game explains just the bare minimum, the rest is learned through player experimentation and pop-ups.
My biggest complain is the lack of purpose to collecting all the slimes and earning money. It is easy to become extremely rich, and from that point forward, you don´t get as exited about new slimes, they are reduced to just a cool thing that you want to discover, but once you do, wouldn´t bother to feed or even collect. I think that if they implemented a bigger reason to explore and optimize your ranch, other than just for the sake of collecting, it would be a much better game.

This is perfection so far; Amazing Visuals, An awesome map and decently balanced gameplay. My issue is, this really feels like the more polished first version of the game, with the second half of the actual story cut off. The late game at this point is basically non existent, and there isn’t a lot to do that you couldn’t in the first game.
I understand the game isn’t quite finished yet -but given how it’s been almost a year, until we get a new gameplay expansion, this is the highest I can give the game in its current state.
