Technically played via the Cowabunga Collection on Nintendo Switch.
The Turtles had already made a name for themselves in the arcade department with 1989's TMNT and just two years later they swung their way back into arcades a plenty with Turtles in Time.
Once again that pesky Shredder is up to no good (when has he ever not?) and the Turtles must once again stop him. Only this time those pizza loving aficionados find themselves being thrown back in time and must make it back to the present day all whilst dealing with all sorts of the usual enemies.
Turtles in Time happens to be a big improvement over the first arcade game with it's much smoother gameplay, improved graphics and another jammin' soundtrack indeed. The time travel gimmick is pretty cool too and makes sure that it never gets old either.
A SNES port would eventually follow afterwards featuring a couple of new levels.
What in God's name is that poster with the cheesy ass looking Turtles though?

A very fun Arcade game, I love the posters on the flyer here lol
But yeah a good time and a good concept. Not much else to say.
I first played this in 2019, then replayed it for my 2022 Classic TMNT game marathon, when I played it then I got to the 2020 level and jokingly thought "Wow, that's just a year away, huh?", yeah lol

I had the SNES game in my youth but I don’t think I’ve ever played the Arcade version. It’s a big improvement over the original arcade game. Attacks have more weight to them but it was frustrating that I didn’t seem in full control of what moves I would perform and when (Donatello spent far too much time attacking things behind him, which were often off the screen).
Still, the whole thing was nice and short and sweet. The bosses were real damage sponges though and devoured my credits.

While not much more complicated gameplay-wise, the slightly beefed up graphics compared to the first game and whatever small gameplay tweaks there were (i dunno something about it just felt different) make this an absolute joy and one of the best old school beat-em-ups around.
Also the music is amazing holy balls
