The most fun I've had with a video game in a while. Incredible high-pace action, shooting and moving around feels satisfying and performing those sweet sweet glory kills. The game was so fun, I actually thought it was short and wanted more, even though it ran for like, 8+ hours. But, there are loads of extras. You can play classic maps, that are modeled like classic Doom (1993) levels, with modern gameplay. You can revisit old levels to do challenges or find secrets you missed. You can new game+ and upgrade Doom Slayer to the max and so on.
Also, this game made me realise that maybe I'm underestimating my new laptop. I thought this game was a benchmark for good PCs, I mean, I already know that I can run A Hat in Time or Slime Rancher on highest settings with great performance, but I thought Doom (2016) would be quite intensive. But it ran smoothly. Or maybe the game is not as intensive as I thought, I dunno. In any case, the graphics are great. And the music... well, y'know the deal. It's intense during combat and makes you feel like a badass.
The game is not perfect of course, there were a few times, where an enemy would just stand still and not do much. There were also a couple of instances where I had to search for the last enemy to end the combat encounter, in big arenas, on top of occasionally faulty AI. There was also one time, where I performed a glory kill and clipped out of bounds, and died. Thankfully, it seems it's very rare to encounter casually, and it does make for a neat speedrun trick. But otherwise, I didn't notice many technical faults.
Overall, the game is pure fun, a high recommendation for First Person Shooter fans.

“Doom” is a spectacular revival of the iconic franchise, offering a relentless and exhilarating first-person shooter experience. With its fast-paced gameplay, visceral combat, and stunning visuals, it captures the essence of the original while elevating it to new heights. The game’s single-player campaign is a standout, with a variety of demons to defeat and an arsenal of powerful weapons at your disposal. The Glory Kill system adds a strategic layer to the carnage, encouraging aggressive play to regain health. “Doom” is a must-play title for anyone craving non-stop action and a challenge that rewards skill and quick reflexes.
When I first played it was like the best fuckin shooter of all time. I played it like 5 times in a row. But now Doom Eternal is out and it improves on everything infinitely. This makes the flaws in this game much more pronounced and it's easier to nitpick all the things that are wrong.
Also it's really funny that this game used to feel so fast-paced and crazy, but now that it's successor is so much more faster-paced, it makes this game seem slow. Still an incredible game if you play this before Eternal though.

A wild and adrenaline-fueled frenzy of demon-slaying mayhem! I LOVE EVERYTHING IN IT.
With its fast-paced gameplay, brutal weapons, and pulse-pounding METAL AS F*CK soundtrack, it's a pure rush of fun from start to finish.
Rip and tear through hordes of enemies with the ferocity of a raging hellspawn, leaving destruction in your wake. The level design is fantastic, offering intense encounters and secret-filled nooks to explore. And let's not forget the glory kills—nothing beats ripping apart demons with your bare hands! Strap on your shotgun, rev up the chainsaw, and prepare for an action-packed, blood-drenched thrill ride that will have you grinning like a maniac the whole way through!
Who says older titles should stay in the museum??

This was my first contact with the Doom series and let's say it was indeed a good experience, from the beginning to the end, you can't stop moving, Why is that? Fireballs, bullets and being swarmed by enemies. you need to keep moving and using your guns to survive, the reboot on the series is really good, the antagonist makes you feel anger until the point you can indeed kill it, the easter eggs brought a smile on my father's face as he recognized the classic textures from old levels... this is an almost flawless masterpiece, only to be beaten by its sucessor
Apparently this game has some kinda story. Ok. I pretty much tuned out any time they went into a diatribe so I can’t tell you the specifics. What I do know are the important notes: demons are invading the planet after a researcher lets them in and you gotta kill them all. That works for me so let’s move on. The gameplay, ironically enough, reminds me a lot of the new Wolfenstein. I think Doom does it a tad better though. The level design and platform placements serve as great horde-round settings that really allow the player to go hog wild. The design philosophy is unmistakably focused on keeping you going a mile a minute instead of taking it slow and easy, evidenced by the inclusion of gratuitously satisfying melee ‘glory’ kills and by having health and ammo be restored by packs dropped by enemies. Along with how many guns Doom gives you, it almost feels like a safeguard against running out of new ways to brutally terminate the hellspawns. Not to mention the alternate firing modes and attachment upgrades that every weapon comes with.
Suffice it to say it makes for an addictive, messy wish fulfillment. Whether you’re slashing, punching, or shooting, you can’t help but unlock your inner childlike thirst for chaos here. Every tool is a joy to use in one scenario or another, though I have a particular soft spot for the Super Shotgun, glory kills, and the BFG, a large massive damage energy weapon that melts anything you point it at. To take another page out of 2014 Wolfenstein’s book, it even offers callbacks to old-school Doom levels in various secret areas of the map, but takes it a step farther with full-blown level unlocks that you can access from the main menu. Just as it was in 1993, Doom is as straightforward and accessible as a game about hell can be. Doom 2016 is everything it should be and more. A true return to form that’s not afraid to add more of what makes the franchise so special.

Finally got around to finishing the reboot to the stories franchise and hoo boy is it impressive. Doom 2016 does what all reboots should do by keeping intact the fundamental gameplay of the original game meanwhile adding some modernity to it. The gunplay is fast and frantic with movement being a key component in success, with a wide arsenal that is both varied and customizable. The game also offers a few progression trees and additional challenges that force you to play differently from the norm. The atmosphere is fantastic of course with the infernal setting of Doom being brought to life with more modern graphics and satisfying sound design for all the monsters and weapons. The campaign is a little on the short side however with it being beatable in less than 15 hours, but it is designed to be replayed with all the hidden secrets in each level. Multiplayer is present, but queue times are long in 2020 and the campaign itself is worth the price tag. Doom 2016 is an amazing game that is a must buy on sale!

Fuck therapy, this game gets out rage better than anything else I've ever done. The challenge level ramps up so goddamn perfectly that you always feel in control of the situation, even if the odds seem unlikely. The graphics are gritty, and the soundtrack ties it all together perfectly. This is instantly a yearly replay for me.
