People that complain about the controls must not have drank enough milk because personally speaking I can play this game just fine. Aside from that this will be one of the best stories you can find in a game.
The characters are so entertaining, it's like you're sitting on a couch with the gods watching Pit struggle through all this greek mythology nonsense. The story itself is short but encapsulating you get engaged with all the characters. And man the music! Never before have I seen a game use timed sections to really make the music just work with everything happening around you.
It's really hard to briefly put into words how much this game just grabs you from chapter 1 for most people but hey, I'd say give it until chapter 9. If you're not into it past that it's not for you.

I love this game but I did not like aiming with the touch screen and trying to reach all the buttons at the same time. I hope they make a sequel or a remake for a non-handheld console

tldr: an amazing story with wonderful characters also has excellent gameplay, really well done voice acting and a slew of fun meaningful extra content. its only issues is the way difficulty is handled and that the beginning is kind of hard to get through on replay.

the main story is a rollercoaster joyride
although the actual narrative takes a bit to get really interesting, the characters are amazing from the start. i love dark pit, palutena, viridi, pit and hades so so much and their interacts bring me nothing but joy. and once the narrative gets going, you get both a compelling story and wonderful characters--something rarely seen outside a typical turn based rpg

and the gameplay itself is really good too! the shooting half is like a really cinematic starfox, with specific music tracks tailor made for specific parts of the level that takes full advantage of the fact that you are on rails. the ground segments are brilliant too, but not all of them are amazingly designed all of the time unfortunately

this is one of the most complete videogames ever, because of the sheer amount of meaningful content- on top of the brilliant story mode, there's sakurai's signature challenge boards (three of them!), smash trophies, weapon collection, AND an amazing online multiplayer mode as well.
but when it comes to flaws, ive got a few words-
-replayability is really bolstered by the sheer variety of weapons and weapon types- but also hurt by the fact that hearing the same voice lines over and over again can get really frustrating
-the way difficulty is handled really irks me. i hate that death makes the game easier. i really just want to play entire level at one fixed difficulty, but the game wont let me
-the beginning ten chapters are the worst parts of the game and are a bit of a drag on replay
-bosses are also hurt by the difficulty problem
-controls dont bother me but they really bother others- especially people who are left handed
but besides these things this might be my favourite videogame but also not really but also maybe?
idk but i love it a whole lot

I love this game so much, it's one of life's great injustices that there isn't any real follow-up to it or way to play it on modern systems

Uprising is a really good game and I really wish it would've brought Kid Icarus back but evidently not

Sorry my review is 11 years late, I had other business to attend to

This game is fantastic. I wish it would get a remake with better controls.

One of the best games ever made by human beings. I wish all games were made with this much heart. The controls aren't that bad, but it does take time to get used to them. I think this game wouldn't have been as good if it was just another 3rd person shooter and made use of different ways to make a "shooter". It's sad that this game is held in Nintendo prison and the only real way to play it is on outdated hardware, with a used physical copy or piracy.

Fuck Nintendo.

Masahiro Sakurai should write Mother 4.

i’d like to thank ki:u for continuing the trend that is shadow the hedgehog’s edgelord dark twin trope. thanks sakurai

one of the best surprises on the 3ds. incredible game, can’t recommend it enough

Pspspsppss........ make a sequel.......... pspspspspspsps

This is the best 3DS Game I have ever played. The controls I have heard the worst things about it, but I never had a problem with it. The music for this game is so good with Chapter 15's air battle song being my favorite. Every boss is fun to fight and learn. There are so many weapons to choose, my favorites were Bow's, Claw's, and Palm's. The graphics for this game is nut's. This is one of the best looking games on the 3DS, right up there with Kirby's Triple Deluxe and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. Every Character is great with Hades being the best character of them all, being both halarious and intimidating at the same time. I highly recommend this game if you haven't played it yet.

I understand the controls being the biggest issue with the game but there would be times where id constantly have my hands fall asleep on me whilst playing resulting in me having to pause to let my hand rest, lose all the momentum I had built up whilst playing then continue worse off than i were just playing with a hand that fell asleep.

There would be instances where i take damage anyway even though I preformed the correct option to avoid getting hit and get hit anyway.
This game is unnecessarily punishing at times like at chapter 24, and wont shy away from taking cheap shots at you thorough your playthrough. the only things I've gotten genuinely frustrated with is when I take massive damage or die because I have to fight the controls it makes you question why this wasn't saved for a different console.

Even though my criticism of the game is directed at the inherent flaw of the system the game was designed on this is my favorite 3ds game behind fire emblem awakening.

I absolutely love the witty chemistry between each character that has dialogue. That genuinely made appreciate almost each character. And wanted to play through the hand pain just to hear more dialogue from any character on screen.

i myself am not going to say anything about any direct character but I want you to experience that for yourself so you'll enjoy it as much as i did.

(next part is my personal attachment to this game, you dont have to read unless you want to)

I always wanted this game when I was 9 years old around the time it released and fell in love with the story telling, Character design. it looked very different from the games around that time and I was super obsessed with having the stand that came with the game in 2012.
I never did get the game until 10 years later in 2022 when i finally had the income from working to shill ($100) for the Complete in box version of the game with The stand. AR Cards and everything. I was super happy to finally be able to experience the game that I didn't get to for an entire decade at this point. I was already playing through Hella rpg's and just getting into competitive smash ultimate at this point in time i.e. Q2 2022 and never got around to playing this now until I was close to beating tears of the kingdom.
I Almost never write reviews for games that I play but this title meant so much to me that I can share my experience with others who may or may not feel the same way. tysm 4 reading.

Puta merda pq é tão bom? Melhor jogo de 3DS fácil

Great game that I THOUGHT would revive the Kid Icarus franchise but I guess not :/

Sigo esperando el siguiente Kid Icarus.

Para mí de los mejores juegos de la 3DS junto a Fire Emblem: Awakening y Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

Eating ice cream off the floor in real life will not actually heal you, unrealistic game.

Quite the impressive little game, reviving what seemed to be a completely dead franchise. It seizes the dead game and brings life back into it, but it also seizes up your hand from carpal tunnel if you play for too long.

If there were a game to get a switch port, this would be it. Don't restrict peak, let it soar

One of the games of my childhood

Holy Crap I Did Not Expect This Game To Be THIS Good, Best Game On The 3DS

BRING THIS GAME BACK PLEASE
OUR BOY PIT2 DESERVES THE LIGHT OF DAY NINTENDO

This game is almost perfect, but the controls drag this game down to the underworld. I can't play this game without cramping and I end up having to play in short bursts, if this were to get a switch port, it could very easily break my top 10 games of all time.

Hurt my hands a little but it was so worth dude

an offbeat on rails shooter with a 10/10 story and an extremely compelling gameplay loop. now give me a sequel
