Kirby is a series that, to me, showcases just how valuable successive iteration on a formula can be (as opposed to constantly changing it up, which to be clear can also lead to great things).
This game is a masterpiece, and the reason it's one is because of a string of games that came before it.
Super Star showed how to make Kirby into a combat-heavy action game by expanding each copy ability into a full moveset; Super Star Ultra improved upon it years later by introducing a more challenging boss lineup to really test those abilities; Return to Dream Land combined Super Star's gameplay with larger, more puzzle-oriented levels to explore; Triple Deluxe refined both further with more dynamic levels and mobile, aggressive bosses; and here we have Robobot which polishes both the levels and the bosses to a mirror sheen.
Masterpiece of a game that shows HAL at the height of their craft

Kirby Planet Robobot is one of my favorite Kirby games of all time.
While a Kirby game is always somewhat similar to the rest, the Robobot was a lot of fun as it has it's own set of copy abilities too which are cool to explore. Robobot stands out with it's music and style compared to the other games.
I paid $15 for this game, but would pay double. At full price??? Not sure any Kirby game is worth it, but Robobot has since been so discounted it shouldn't be hard to find.
A gem of a DS game, and the OST will always have a special place in my heart.

Nothing short of incredible. A big part of it is the basis the game was built on - Triple Deluxe had already honed Modern Kirby's game design to a razor edge, and what little was left unrefined was easily cleaned up. But there's so much Robobot introduces to strengthen the experience all on its own. I'd argue that this is probably the most all-around fun ability suite in the series after Star Allies - and even then, Star Allies doesn't have the pure joy of Poison Kirby. This is without even getting into the Robobot Armor. Just when you think you've seen the coolest thing it has to offer, the game continues to surprise. And it does so again and again and again! There's an unparalleled sense of scope as the game progresses, perhaps the strongest out of the full series. By the time of the final boss... man, I can think of fewer spectacle fights that hold me the way this game's does.
About the only complaint I can levy towards Robobot is that there's very little in the way of fat. I think it's really neat how every single boss in the game ties into the overarching plot, but I sort-of miss your Mr. Dooters - the random boss that has absolutely nothing to do with anything. This is an extremely nitpicky complaint, and I actually appreciate how much the bosses that are here inform so many odd details about Kirby lore - Holo Defense API comes to mind - but it's the one thing that gives me pause when it comes to this. I guess Team Kirby Clash being spun off into micro-transaction-riddled games could be held against Robobot, though I think it's perfectly fine here.

My favorite Kirby game of all time, not only was this game really fun but the mechanized theme and visuals are the best in the series. Back when this game was revealed I wasn’t impressed with the robobot mechanic but they surprised me, the robobot is extremely fun to play as and the level design is changed to suit it. Overall amazing game that should be played by all Kirby fans
