The first MMO I ever got into! I really had a lot of fun with this one. By the time I needed to start going around the different islands to increase my item levels for certain missions I basically fell off of it. But this game makes me way more excited for other MMO's in the near future. Thank you Lost Ark!
Really great idea, the storyline was really okay, the combat mechanics are satisfying. Plus, it's one of the prettiest MMOs on the market. However, the game has a terrible endgame, which is something the genre stands on. Without paying, we are forced to grind forever, hoping that the weapon will eventually improve, if it fails, you don't progress for the next months.

‣ 7/10 – A bikini gives more armor than a full metal chest plate.
‣ Game Audio / Soundtrack - 7/10
‣ Graphics – 10/10
‣ Atmosphere – 9/10
‣ Main Story / Characters – 5/10
‣ Side Activities / Exploration – 6/10
‣ AI – 6/10
‣ Ragdolls / Physics – 8/10
‣ Movement – 8/10
‣ Voice acting – 7/10
‣ Combat – 8/10
‣ Final notes: I never play games like this, because they require massive commitment and a different gaming mindset, however Lost Ark interested me in its presentation. For a free game with no membership limitations Lost Ark has a ton of content for any player. It is mind numbing how much time you can waste playing this MMORPG. The combat is flashy, the graphics are impressive and beautiful, character models are oddly too good etc. I think the main reason why I finally enjoyed an MMORPG was because of its combat design. If you are familiar with games like Diablo or Path of Exile this won’t feel too different to you. The freedom you have is great and different skill combinations are just a sight to behold. As expected, the story is just there to exist, the voice acting is hit or miss and the objectives you do are repetitive. However, even being repetitive the game still interested me in late game areas. There was always a great variety in locations you get to explore and enemies you must beat. Lost Ark offers plenty of bosses to fight and ways to do it. You have other activities to dabble in from time to time like mining, foraging, hunting, and managing your own stronghold which brings a whole new bag of things to do. Then there’s sailing and the explorations of dozens of islands and little continents. Overall Lost Ark is a breath of fresh air in gaming and even if it has pay to win mechanics it still offers plenty of content to be explored without paying a single dime. Yes, it is repetitive and grindy, but what did you expect from a free to play MMORPG?

I wanted to love this game, but, man... after spending over 400 hours playing it, certain aspects have become so bad. While the game has one of the coolest endgame content i've ever seen, getting to that point feels more like a second job than a source of enjoyment and it doesn't stop there.
One major reason why I stopped playing this game is the almost impossible task of progressing with just one character. You need to play with 3-6 other characters to make any significant progression. You find yourself obligated to engage daily content such as Chaos Dungeons, Raids, and other content. This can stretch on for a considerable amount of time, that it starts to feel like a second job. It feels like that the games says, "Either dedicate 8 hours a day or spend a huge amount of money to make any progression".
Moreover, if you're not perfectly geared with the perfect stats, good luck finding any decent raid group in the high-end raids. This problem was already widely known in South Korea (where the game was released about 3 years earlier), and it's gradually making its way here too.
Then there is the card collection system. This is in my opinion one of the most monotonous activities in the game. However, you're forced to do this because don't forget, lacking good stats means no raids in the higher levels. Also not to forget is that you will need to do this for the alt characters too at some point.
I would not recommend this game better to avoid this one, if you want to start with an MMORPG, i would recommend games like Final Fantasy 14, World of Warcraft or Black Desert but stay away from this one if you don't want to waste hundreds of hours to notice that progress will be the worst grind.
