This one got better on replay. I still hate the sprites. Water Balloon is surprisingly decent.
Also the Jump Jump Slide Slide sections are not that bad.

This one is good, but there's something off about it. I think the levels are fine, but I feel nothing after finishing them. If I were to personify them, they would be like someone you find on the street desperately asking for directions. Its still good, but it feels a bit all over the place. Its a very charming game though, which is probably why I like it so much. The animations are very expressive and the spritework is beautiful. The little voice lines make me happy when I hear them. I think the cutscenes are super fun because of the voice acting. Even though the voice acting isn't the best, Duo's final message to Mega Man was a really good scene. I like all the bosses. They're pretty fun, especially since you can use special weapons and the buster at the same time. The weapons are all pretty nice for the most part. They feel like they're there to support Mega Man's base moveset by adding new movement capabilities or hitting in ways or places that a normal buster can't. The Mega Ball is a lot of fun to use, maybe one day I'll master infinite flight with it. I think what I don't quite like about the game is that it plays with too many ideas at once. The Robot Master stages feel very cluttered. The level gimmicks stray a bit too far from what I like about Mega Man at times. Its still fun, but isn't for me.

Really really good Mega Man game. Because of the way the levels are structured, unlike Mega Man 7, they're able to tailor the design of stages around weapons you have in the second half of the game, meaning they're much more variable and require you to use your weapons more often. I love the spritework in this game, they're really smoothly animated. The voice acting is really funny sounding and corny, but it's such a non-issue that I don't really mind either way. It's charming hearing THAT FELT GOOD after beating Grenade Man. If I recall correctly, it's because of time constraints and the voice cast being entirely reused from X4, without really a chance to even see the scene they were going to be acting for. My biggest issue would be that Mega Man just moves really slowly in this game? He could be accelerated by about 50% in his horizontal speed and the game would be totally fine for it. But in general you can do so much fun movement with your weapons in this game that it makes up for it. You even get Rush Bike, the only game it appears in in fact, which is really fun to try to use. As is standard, OST is great. But strangely, because of the different platforms the game released on, it sounds much better on the Saturn than any of the legacy collections, which are based on the Playstation version. The Saturn version has a few extra songs and 2 extra boss fights against Cut and Wood man, both fan favorites. It's just an outright better version of the game, there's not any extra differences beyond it. I don't know why Capcom decided to base their rereleases around outright inferior versions, but Capcom will be Capcom, I guess.

I'm Aqua Man, but you can call me "Handsome Guy"

It's Really Good, I liked How e Have to use our Powers to get Through some Parts of the Stage, so it doesn't Make some Powers Useless.
The Only Thing I didn't Like about This Game Was Wily Stage 1, it Took Away my Sanity...

its not bad but so many of the stages have gimmicks that aren't that fun or sections that are basically minigames. these sections of the game kinda suck which is sad because they are what usually comes to mind when i think about this game. its fun but definitely not as good as 7. also side note the voice acting makes me want to blow my ears out

don't let the jump jump slide slander fool you, this is peak

oh. i think i beat it again lol

Pretty good Mega Man game, I like the art style but I do still prefer the look of MM7. OST is top tier and the levels are decent, I especially like clown man's stage. Sometimes the levels do feel a bit messy almost like they are just throwing a bunch of enemies and hazards at you without rhyme or reason. That doesn't really make the game super difficult as I'd still say it is one of the easier classic games but it can be a bit annoying.

Story is interesting but the voice acting is beyond questionable. Luckily it is usually the good kind of awful where it is at least fun to laugh at but it still is a bit of a shame that the interesting concept is kind of wasted, Duo is really cool as well.

Slide, slide, jump, jump.

The game that represents "The Mega Man Experience" to me. Diverse and interesting Robot Masters, probably the most robust special weapons, great presentation and drama. So what if Dr Light sounds like Elmer Fudds orthodontist? Theres like 50 seconds of cutscenes in the entire game, who cares?

This one's weird (trademark)
A lot of stuff that ventures far out from the traditional mega man affair like the snowboarding and shmup sections but they just end up like, not being fun? And also the core level design kinda suffers a bit

I played 8 on Anniversary Collection as a kid with no real understanding it was a port of an old game, but it had a huge effect on me. Felt so beautiful and brimming with life, I distinctly remember being taken aback when I got to X4-6 in my middle school years and the animation and polish was so stilted by comparison.

Mega Man always strived for the playable shonen experience but they really hit the nail on the head here imo, maybe because it leans into the more eclectic side of the series' vibe. Excellent house-synth soundtrack, great gamefeel, very strong stage and boss designs, you can feasibly beat everyone with a buster - everything '& Bass' wishes it could be. And the best Roll design!

You all know the weakpoints, nobody wants to deal with Wily stage 1 or the capsule, but that's mostly it. I guess the situation also feels underdeveloped, but it's hard to notice through the bad dub. For being last mainline entry for a little over a decade, its setup feels very weekly, like it's just an isolated event that comes and goes. 7's introduction of Bass is really strong, as-is the whole 'I am more than a robot' shtick at the end (with burning Wily castle!!); Duo's place in the story really can't compare, you could remove him and nothing about the conflict would change.

I wish 9 and 10 continued elaborating on this gorgeous 2D artstyle and further innovation of mechanics and incidental quirks instead of regressing to the NES era. Even 11, for as good as its 3D art is, doesn't have the emotional resonance this game has.

You better have something cooking Capcom, 11's been a half-decade old now!

somehow much better than all of the previous ones, i really 8 this one up

I don't know if it was hate from the time or what, but I've seen some people saying that Mega Man 7 and 8 wasn't good at all
Well, I've just played both.

And my question is why? I mean, it still had some strange decisions like MM7, but with the exception of one, none of those decisions actually make it worse in any way.

Like before, you need to defeat the 4 first bosses (although I noticed that there is two menus for the bosses just after defeating the first 4, so I may be wrong in that one) and now you can just collect 40 screws in the entire game. Since you now buy upgrades instead of collecting them on stages, you cannot buy all of them in one save, and once you buy one, you can't "sell" it and get your screws back

Besides that, the levels are way better than the last game, and the camera doesn't feel that close although the sprites are basically the same size (although I had some problems on Search Man's stage), and although it doesn't have energy tanks, you still have some ways to regenerate health with rush and still have the Energy Balancer, and the new upgrades are nice. Oh, and the bosses are way better than 7, ESPECIALLY THE LAST WILY MACHINE. It's basically the same thing, but with more patterns and without that annoying elemental shots (I just recommend to not use flaming sword since it's harder to escape the attacks if you use it)

The dub sucks, but I though it was going to be way worse. I dare to say it's better than X4 since even with the problems the scenes still passes the same feeling it was supposed to, while X4 it's just funny most of the time

I really can't understand who hates this game. Even with the problems is easily one of the best classic Mega Man games (at the moment is top 3 for me, but I still have 3 main games to beat)

Fun! They fixed the issue of Mega Man taking up a bit too much screen real estate at the cost of him now feeling like he moves a bit too slow in these large stages but it's not enough for me to hate it, especially when I quite enjoy the stage design in this one with a couple hiccups here and there. Being able to dedicate a button to special weapons so you can still use your buster in between is actually a really nice change imo. Definitely in the top half of classic Megaman games for me.

I'm never doing Wily stage 1 again

A música de seleção de chefes é péssima (esse comentário contém ironia)

Las personas que hayan creado el Stage 1 de la torre del Dr. Willy probablemente sean misántropos.

I really like this one. Probably my favorite robot master designs overall. Duo is a neat addition even if not a huge one. The customization with the bolts is cool. I think all the weapons are cool. It's crazy how much the difficulty jumps during the sliding sections though.

This is close to being my favorite so far! :D

Not a fan of this one, probably my least or second least favourite classic game.
iirc, two of the levels are weird gimmicks that change the gameplay and of the other stages the only ones I'd call normal fun mega man levels are Grenade Man, Search Man, Sword Man and like Clown Man, Astro Man I guesss but I don't like those levels for their weird gimmicky stuff even if it doesn't change the gameplay too much. I do like Aqua Man's stage though.
The game is very nice looking but it has the same issue as 7 for me where the sprite size makes it feel weird to play and also the Wily stages SUCK

i was really surprised when i saw most mixed or negative reviews about this game. i can understand why, but to me this game is such a blast to return to every time. the artstyle in this one is such a pleasant vibe with the best robot master designs (and music) in the classic series. the new action sections are hit and miss, but enjoyable for the most part and does wonders for the classic formula, which was getting stale since 4 on the NES. of course the bad voice acting is as bad as everyone says, but it's really funny and this game wouldn't be the same without them. additionally the weapons this time around are pretty fun to use, on top of them all having situational uses, weapons like the mega ball and the ice wave can be used to exploit the level design in some very cool ways, and it made me appreciate these levels a whole lot more, and motivated me to find all the bolts, which are well hidden for the most part.

my only real complaints are that mega man moves a lot slower than the NES games? this was a thing in 7, and it was made worse by the bigger sprites which fucked you over in some platforming sections - this game makes it a little easier with more forgiving jumps, but it's easy to get used to.
the level design in some stages are a bit off as well. they're fine for the most part, but search man's stage is such a clusterfuck to go through with its weird layout, and astro man's stage having TWO whole ass mazes inside it. I appreciate the variety, but man those stages could have had a lot more polishing. the item shop's cool in this one, but the fact that you can't even get all the powerups in one playthrough doesn't sit right with me.

apart from all that, it's a big breath of fresh air from the previous entries, and while not all of the new ideas hit the mark, it all culminates into a solid experience that's definitely worth a try.

I recieved a letter from an anonymous source that believes that it is imperative that you refer to Aqua Man as Handsome Guy from this point forward.

Input lag on that snowboard section in Frost Man is unacceptable. This problem seems to persist in the Legacy Collection 2.

A replay of Mega man 8 to better form my thoughts, and well, it still holds up as one of my favorite in the original series. Especially after this replay, I would argue that it could potentially be the most forgiving of the bunch, making it more enjoyable to replay and try out other upgrades along the way.

It still has its challenges, but they honestly did not feel as difficult nor unfair a second time go. Overall a fun and smooth Mega man game (P.S. the Cutscenes are more funny than anything, but you cannot deny the good animation)

Honestly went into this one kinda worried I wouldn't like it, but I did! Wily Stage 1 can die in a fire though.
