I had this game for like 2 years before I got a DS and struggled that long without decent Pokemon. Now that there's proper console Pokemon games there's not a super high need to check out a battles only game, but I think the aesthetics of this are nice. Poketopia's a neat place, the music's pretty good
Another game that I played as a kid on my Wii and had a save file on the final boss... same situation as Skylanders in more ways than one while there are no toys for this one this game is very reliant on you having one of the DS pokemon games I believe diamond and pearl to send pokemon to this game as this is a purely combat focused game with no exploration and no way of getting pokemon in this game and without it, the "rental" pokemon they give you here are just not good enough to beat the monumental final level that has you fighting every boss fight in the game in a row so well I still don't have pokemon diamond or pear those games have gotten a bit to rich for my blood so I just cheated but the cheats sucked so it was still hard :) basically, I had a one-hit kill cheat but it would work for both sides so I just choose the fastest Pokemon I had and prayed
so yah in a single day closed off these 2 big annoyances of my childhood lol
also this one even though a terrible excuse of a game it was gifted to me by my late uncle same that used to lend me psp games so it does hold a bit of a special place

i was bitter when it released because it was NOT a sequel to Pokemon XD. However, in hindsight, I think this was the best 3D pokemon game to come out for sometime. the visuals and animations were stunning and still hold up today, despite it being a wii game. I wish I could go back and play multiplayer with my DS pokemon teams
A Pokemon game on the Wii complete with beautiful animations, unique battle modes not found in any other Pokemon game, and a funny narrator. What's not to like? Well, if you thought the generation IV Pokemon games were slow, multiply that several times. This is a game that you play while scrolling through your phone or reading a book.
If you're a completionist in Pokemon Gen IV, this game also has a lot for you. Not only can you use your entire collection in Pokemon Battle Revolution, but you can also transfer several exclusive rare Pokemon back to your DS games such as a surfing Pikachu. There are also a number of rare items available in the shop, which can easily be duplicated by connecting multiple DS systems to your Wii at once to receive them multiple times.
If you don't have a gen IV game to connect it with, this game kind of sucks because you're stuck with pretty bad rental Pokemon.

It must be some kind of a sick joke that this game from 2006, not developed by Game Freak, manages to get accurate sizes for Pokémon and proper attack alignment for moves like Flamethrower and Hydro Cannon so you don't get stupid nonsense like Blastoise shooting water from its belly.
Meanwhile, in 2022, Game Freak pretends to be an indie game studio and can't even put out a functional game for a multi-million dollar franchise.

This game feels so disappointing considering Genius Sonority's previous track record of making great 3D Pokémon games.
Don't get me wrong: the game is absolutely beautiful. Not only do the environments and Pokémon look great, but so do the animations. I love, for instance, that physical attacks actually involve the Pokémon going up to their opponent and attacking them! It makes the game feel so much more immersive.
Also, fun fact: this is actually the first Pokémon game to offer trainer customization, not X and Y. And the different outfits look cool, too. I especially like the costumes modeled after different Pokémon like Electivire. I loved earning different customization options as I progressed through the game.
But... the game is also deeply flawed. The most obvious weakness for me is the lack of a story mode. What's especially disappointing is that, from the looks of it, Pokétopia looks like such a cool place to explore, but you never get the chance to do so in the game. Whereas the two previous 3D Pokémon games involved you venturing across a Pokémon region never-before-seen in the handheld games, this one simply involves nonstop battles in different Colosseums. The gameplay gets very repetitive and stale quickly.
Additionally, unlike the two previous 3D games, Pokémon Battle Revolution does not work as a standalone game. Instead, it practically expects you to own a copy of one of the Gen IV DS Games. Technically, you can use a rental team to progress through the game, but you will be at a massive disadvantage. This is something that isn't explicitly stated or advertised upon the game's release but should have, as I know several people who bought this as their first Pokémon game, and immediately became disappointed and returned their game to GameStop.
Once again, it's a pretty game that had a lot of potential, but instead falls flat due to the lack of various game modes. I truly hope we eventually get another 3D Pokémon game from Genius Sonority though, as they've proven in the past that they could deliver great 3D Pokémon games.
