Main and Post story complete, Rescue Rank: Grand Master, 418/418 Living Pokédex

Mystery Dungeon was one of my favourite Pokémon games growing up so yes, this was purchased and played purely on nostalgia bait.

I loved every minute of it and was pretty much smiling to myself the whole time I was playing it.

Shelved because I didn't finish all the post-game content and I'm sure to come back to it at some point - to either start a new adventure or to mop up my current one.

[Main Story]

I never got to play the original but this remake is fantastic in my opinion, as it brings together all the pokémons that went to the GBA and NDS versions into one. Where it tells a story that aroused my interest, having several places to explore being main or secondary throughout the game in order to evolve the rank of our rescue team that we can create in the game but also of our members who are part of it. The possibility that the game gives to choose which pokémon we want to be without being dependent on the quiz is fantastic. Even after finishing the main story of the game, the post game that the game offers seems to be endless in a good way. If you like the Rogue-like genre, I think you’ll like this game.

so i decided to pick this game back up because its been months sense I played it and yeah its really fun
out of all the mystery dungeon games i've played ( Exploers of sky, Super and this ) this is defintally my second favorite ( exploers was my first so i have alot of nostaligia for it ) but I really like the visiuals of this game i like how you can switch which pokemon you're playing as i like that you can have more then 4 party memebrs under specfic circustances i love the addition of the rainbow gummi expanding apon the gummi mechanic over all a very solid mystery dungeon game

I didnt get far in but it seems like a well-done remake. The visuals are great, nice QoL changes to gameplay, but the soundtrack is lacking compared to the original.

Unfortunately I have some kind of anxiety with this game because of losing all your items when you die(which hasn’t changed from the original). It gets in the way of me enjoying the game, so I’ll probably put it down for a while.

I have never played any of the Mystery Dungeon games in the past. No reason why, just never got around to them. There's a ton of content in this game. Well worth the price if you're into dungeon crawlers. Not my favorite genre but it certainly scratched the dungeon itch.

The story was bit generic. (Reminded me that the legendary Pokemon are assholes.) I did some early grinding but the story doesn't take too long. The game opens up after the main story. I think more than eight dungeons open. Plus other mechanics. Some of the dungeons were challenging; I was destroyed a few times going into a situation I was not prepared for.

It was incredibly fun meeting Pokemon on your journey and you can convince them to join your squad. You have the freedom to try difference moves, types, and even gear. I did get a bit bored running through the dungeons on repeat but I'm not blaming the game for that. Again, my personal experiences for this genre. There were dungeons I didn't explore so I did skip hours of content.

I might be hanging onto my game for future dungeon itches. It does a great job for a casual dungeon crawler like myself.

I feel like ive always gotten Torchic when I play these games

Gamer Tip: Really plan out when you decide to get a game after watching somebody's let's play of it

was so good love mystery dungeon I should play the post game more

This game was a shot of nostalgia straight into my veins.

All of what I'll say should apply to Blue and Red Rescue Team as well, since this game only improved on those in my opinion, and didn't change anything too significantly. The Rescue Team games are very good. It's a different take on Pokemon, which the series needs. These games are Roguelikes, and are really fun ones at that. The artstyle for Rescue Team DX in particular is really beautiful and adds some cool things such as the Fairy-type, new Pokemon, and Mega Evolution. And the story! Utterly heartbreaking, and surprisingly good for a Pokemon game.

I do think nostalgia has slightly overrated this game a bit. It does get repetitive at times, and I never really was a fan of the hunger mechanic in dungeons. Other roguelikes don't boot you out of dungeons prematurely but PMD feels the need to. People forget how long some of the later dungeons are too, making them feel really grueling and honestly, boring. Those dungeons make me refrain from replaying this.

Great games though.

Score: 86

not that fun, I wish I picked another game to play, it's still somewhat enjoyable, and kinda cute, it's just not really for me I guess

Ah, yes, the funny furry isekai game.

I've had history with Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team in the past - by which I mean I played a used GBA cartridge of the original that had already made it through the first half of the game. I then heard about this remake a few years back, bought it day one, put so many hours into the earlygame...and then proceeded to not touch the game again for a few years.

And now that I've finished what I'd previously started, I do appreciate the quality of life improvements (better balance with this game's starter Pokémon, etc.) that this remake offers.

The presentation - putting aside my bias for pixel art - is undoubtably better than the original. I do like the way the game manages to make the 3D models look like hand-drawn images. Though, I do miss the camps being fully explorable...

The gameplay...is the same dungeon-crawler gameplay Spike Chunsoft has executed well for the past two decades by the time of this game's release. I've no idea what else to say about it, other than my observation about how few people are here specifically for the gameplay.

Shelved because I intend to return at a later date to do the postgame quests, but I really enjoyed the main story so far!

Also, the base remodeling story-beat was more of a non-sequitur than I'd remembered it being.

Also also, the protag musta had a pretty shitty life as a human if they willingly allowed the erasure of their previous memories.

such a bittersweet game. Mystery dungeon is aways better than the mainline in terms of history. always makes me cry at the end.

It has some flaws like the best content in the game is after the ending, it lacks difficulty beeing one of the easiest games i have ever played, "auto mode" does everything for you i recommend not using it. This was my bedside game, it's relaxing and lighthearted. But is not the best in the series.

just a solid little charming game. i think the art style is very eh but it has a lot of content even if some of the dungeons in the post game are way too long (99 floors) better than sword and shield.... i gotta play explorers of sky at some point

An amazing remake of an equally amazing game. It holds the same charm as the original, coupled with a very sweet artstyle and useful QOL features. I found myself loving completing this game to its fullest and am currently doing it all over again. I can only hope for an Explorers DX in the future.

8.5/10. While the core game is pretty repetitive and long. The art style and passion in bringing this classic is incredible.

Ngl, that part where your hunted down by other Rescue teams was kinda annoying, still a great game tho, Treecko my beloved

i love it when cubone is my best friend.

banger soundtrack
nostalgia kicks
somehow worse mechanics than the original game

Became sad, but was no longer sad because post game

An amazing remake of the GBA/DS classic, while a little slow with gameplay at times its still a blast to play in the current day!
A wholesome story and an AMAZING soundtrack, this is a certified classic for me!

Good remake but content is lacking

I absolutely loved this game's story and I got really invested in it. I would love to see more games like this where all of the characters are talking Pokémon. I love the characters, the art style, and the music. I've also always liked games where you get to rescue people and/or animals.

The gameplay is addictive, but I wouldn't really call it fun. The combat is repetitive and annoying, especially when you have a big team of Pokémon going through a corridor and the ones at the back keep getting into fights. The moments I enjoyed most were the dopamine hits of finding a bunch of items and spawning right next to the stairs.

My favorite thing to do in Pokémon games is collect Pokémon, but you don't have many opportunities to utilize the Pokémon you recruit in this game. Your team can only have three Pokémon, and if you want to always keep the protagonist and deuteragonist around, you're only left with one more spot for another Pokémon. This turns to none if you want to include the Absol who joins you during the story. I wish you could send additional teams out on their own rescue missions, like how you can send additional teams of monsters to find treasure in Dragon Quest Treasures.

As much as I enjoyed my time with this game, I lost interest once I reached the post-game. The story is what carried the experience for me, and the post-game has less story and much more dungeon crawling. I'm not interested in grinding, fighting a bunch of legendaries, and doing 99 floor dungeons. I also evolved my main character (Charmander) into a Charizard so I would be stronger, but I really regret it and I miss her cute little face and bandanna.

Charming remake of a good game that had me wishing for just a something little bit more. At least we have a Pokémon Mystery Dungeon title on the Switch I suppose
