It's a very solid free-to-play Arena FPS on epic games right now. the only problem is....where's the players? It's like EVERY Arena shooter i've played so far suffers from that exact same thing each time. It doesn't make it any easier with SR level players who are the only ones around as they will be the ones literally dancing circles around you on the map while denying you every single item pickup. it's absolute madness. its no wonder why Arena shooters are not loved..or played at all these days compared to Fortnite and whatever is hot shit right now.

The fact that the market is so unforgiving just like the difficulty with this game when you're up against god-tier players, so at this point its either you play what everyone else is playing or sit in an arena on this game by yourself.

so...pick your poison

Pretty much, Bethesda took Quake and mixed it in with Overwatch by giving the champions, abilities. So this way they wanted to ease in new players to the series while also being hard as balls broken difficult with weapon, health, armor and other powerup pickups to control the map, especially against 20+ year veterans since the original quake back in 1996, so it kinda defeats it's own objective in a way.

Also, the game has been in early access for more than 3 years now and it's a real shame the player numbers are bleeding out. Game could have been great if it wasn't for balance issues with the "champions", a meme engine from saber was used instead of the Id tech engine used for the new Doom/Eternal, and myriad of technical issues that had been echoed from users. Quake champions only has some maps, no server browser and more console crap like matchmaking because that doesn't work very well unless a video game is highly populated!

This game is nothing but a developer mess. I don't expect Quake Champions to last on this unforgiving market.
