One of my favorite arcade games mainly because of the excellent atmosphere it has. The Age of Discovery aesthetic crossed with mythological theming just makes for such an adventurous feeling game. Having all these legendary sea monsters be based off of real sea creatures was a neat idea too. The game also has a such a menagerie of enemies it throws at you, nicely varied levels, and epic feeling boss fights, that the game is engaging throughout. Ocean Hunter can be a bit of a bullshit quarter-muncher at times, namely the last boss, but otherwise it is such a fun time.

The best classic boomer shooter that isn't Doom. Blood's hard but you get the hang of it and the weapons are rad. The atmosphere is fantastic too. It really sucks we'll probably never get a modern reboot, but thankfully Night Dive did a great job remastering it. Make sure to check out Death Wish too; very good fan campaign.

This game doesn't deserve an average rating this low because it is a genuinely fun cheesy blast, at least on the original arcade version. I remember when my cousin and I first played this years ago when we were kids with no prior knowledge of its existence on a cab that a random hotel had and we fell in love with it, laughing our asses off until we beat it.

What other game lets you use THE POWER OF MUSIC (YEAH!) and exploding CDs to save Aerosmith from multi-colored ninjas, mutant worm monsters, and a dude who's office desk transforms into a hovercraft? None other, that's what.

It's definitely not perfect, but if you want to have sheer dumb fun with a friend, then look no further.

Playing The Grid with several people was probably the peak arcade experience for me; I think The Grid just purely exemplifies the arcade game in a way that couldn't be fully replicated outside of the arcade. You could totally make a home console/PC version (And I would love a full remaster) but it wouldn't be the same of using a joystick and track ball to run around an arena blasting the people next to you with killer loudspeakers, cannonballs, and sawblades. Just a blast to play and if you ever have the opportunity to play the actual cabs of it with people don't pass it up.
