I played this on PS5 through streaming
This honestly is one of the most frustrating games I've ever played. The combat in the game is decent, there are no major combos besides the one's you start the game with. All upgrades are usually just more damage, that being said the only things worth upgrading are the blades of chaos. Enemies have way too much health even at a normal difficulty and hit WAY too hard at a higher difficulty. There are almost no interesting game decisions to make. This is crazy because Kingdom Hearts (which I would put in the same genre as Gow) came out 3 years earlier and is a more robust and full game (gameplay wise) The story is lack luster and thin, I feel no attachment to any character. The are no standout music tracks. The camera is infuriating. The platforming is atrocious. Enemy design is inconsistent, with many mid game enemies being more difficult for me than most end game enemies. The final 2 major areas of the game are pure rage gauntlets that are so unnecessarily hard and added a full two hours to my play though. SO MUCH OF THIS GAME IS BAD, but I still couldn't put it down. For the first 6 hours I played I had an absolute blast! I could truly see why people love this game and why this franchise got as big as it did when it did. The bones of a great game are here, it just needed some more meat and polish.
Also the final boss is an absolute wet fart of an encounter
