This was my first R&C game and I really enjoyed myself. I think that the art and music direction are perfect. Despite the children's movie vibe from the story I didn't find myself laughing much at all. The story is super basic and characters don't really have arcs or anything of the sort. Things happen or resolve simply because they have to. Combat is great, every weapon feels unique and potent. Bosses are endlessly recycled and every enemy goes down the same way, but that is a nonissue because of how good the weapons feel. Overall I think this game has really strong bones with just a few missteps. After mainlining the original God of War trilogy in just a few days this game felt like a breath of fresh air.
