Takes all my complaints about 7 (frontloaded, poor pacing, weird self-serious plot asides that killed off my engagement) and completely does away with them, while acting as the perfect evolution of the franchise into a beautiful blend of horror and action. It's campy, it's compelling, and it's probably the best non-remake installment in at least 15 years.
