Bayonetta is an action game by Platinum with the usual polish, style and references to past games you would expect from them. The titular protagonist is an immensely powerful witch with a penchant for suggestive dialogue and extravagant poses, it's safe to say her personality drives a lot of the game and could even be a barrier for some people to get into it since she is such a well defined and bizarre character. Personally, I'm not particularly fond of her, but she is undeniably memorable. In particular I like how her proportions make her look like she's over 220 cm tall because, to me, that says her character designer had a vision.
The gameplay of Bayonetta is very intricate, there's a ludicrous amount of combos and weapons have some unique ones as well on top of the regular ones. The player can also hold an attack button while dodging to keep the combo going while avoiding enemy attacks, this is essencial for maximizing damage. There's a wealth of other details that really showcase how deep the combat in this game is, but I'm far from an expert. I've beaten the game on normal difficulty a few times, but I can't make a dent in hard mode.
To conclude, I believe Bayonneta is great, it's the kind of the game that's so deep you could play for dozens of hours trying to improve your scores or just play it once in a while like I do, there's even a difficulty setting that plays itself if you really need it.
