- Minecraft: Pi Edition was a version of Minecraft developed as a partial tech demo to the Raspberry Pi released on 2/11/2013. It is based on Pocket Edition alpha but cut down with support for multiple programming languages. It was intended to be an educational tool for novice programmers showcasing how a less-than-powerful game such as Minecraft was cut down to its bare bones in order to accommodate the hardware. Although technically discontinued, it is still available for free download on Mojang's site and is installed by default on Raspberry Pi OS.
Like the Raspberry Pi itself, the game can only be run on Linux.

The original PS4 Edition, on the other hand, was discontinued and is counted among the other Legacy Console Editions of Minecraft.
Although Minecraft Bedrock is playable on the PS5 through backward compatibility, it is not a new version of the game despite it receiving updates. Currently, there is no port of Minecraft Bedrock on PS5 hardware.

The better together update was the most pivotal Minecraft update when it comes to versions of the game. The Idea of the update was to conjoin multiple ports of Minecraft onto a single development platform that is titled the "Bedrock Edition" of the game. The strongest benefit to this was online multiplayer was compatible for people who played wherever the Bedrock game was ported. This means people were given the freedom to play together despite being on completely different hardware.
With this swift transition, multiple "editions" of Minecraft were either discontinued or replaced by Bedrock versions. The Bedrock Edition of Minecraft is commonly titled as just "Minecraft". Some consoles may have had standalone versions in the past, but they are not to be confused with their Bedrock Edition counterparts. This list exists to clear up the confusion of Minecraft's multiple versions and variations over the years.

The Bedrock platform has been playable on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, Kindle Fire, Windows 10 Mobile, PlayStation 4, Xbox One,

The Bedrock platform is currently playable on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, Kindle Fire, PlayStation 4, Xbox One,

Whats your preferred edition? For some reason I love popping in the PS3 one, but if I try to play my Switch version, it never holds my attention for more than a couple of minutes
