I struggled wether to place this as one of my lowest 4 star games or one of the highest 3.5 star games. But chose 4 as it has more in common as far as quality with my 4s than the other way around.
It’s so obvious how many people that formerly worked on Castlevania created this game. There are so many things ripped right out of that series that I’m surprised they didn’t get sued over it. This game is not one of the elite Metroidvanias but it is one of the very best right outside of the elites of the genre. The story isn’t terrible but it is obvious what’s going to happen in the first 30 minutes or so. The art and music are very solid. The game play is what you would expect of a Castlevania, like a mix of Symphony of the Night and Aria of Sorrow.
All in all I can with full confidence recommend this to any Metroidvania fan.
