Out of the three entries in the tales of franchise I've played as of writing this, I can confidently say that this was definitely the one I had the most enjoyment out of. Not my favorite, but extremely close. I had known about this games existence before I had even started the first game and was excited to see how the game itself compared to the opening I had watched a handful of times before and I was pretty satisfied to see it lived up to my expectations. While there were things I didn't like/expect, some examples being the combat system and the lack of original party members, the story and characters themselves more than made up for that. Watching both the relationship between Emil and Marta develop further as the game went on, as well as seeing them dealing with their own issues was one of the most satisfying character arcs I've ever seen in fiction. Seeing how the three main characters interacted with the original games party members was nice as well, and actually made me start caring about characters from the first game that I didn't particularly like. The story, despite being pretty short was very entertaining and always managed to keep me wondering what would happen next, even if some of it was pretty predictable.

Overall, 4/5 stars. Pretty solid game. Do I love it? Yes. Will I ever play it again? Hell no.

there's nothing i can really say than just "meh." it was a really great game with a decent story but that's really all it is. just ok. i enjoyed it but i just can't bring myself to have any strong opinions about it one way or another. will probably get around to getting the other endings in a few years but honestly i wouldn't count on it.

really enjoyed the game while playing but got really boring towards the end and playing it just felt like a chore. the combat is ok but the constant overworld encounters and slow overworld exploration is really annoying the further you get into the game.
