God forgives….but I don’t.

For the time this game came out I feel like in some aspects it was ahead of its time with the unique storytelling and not your average type of jrpg story with fantasy/medieval type of things. What I got felt more like a scifi mecha-like adventure that I was truly amazed by and kicking myself for not playing such a cool game sooner with its combo style battle system and cool Mecha-gear style fights. It was cool as hell seeing a unique 2d to 3d transition depending on if you were in your Gear or not was pretty interesting and the sprites looked fantastic and have even aged gracefully to this day. Then came Disc 2. I heard the rumors and comments online and sadly most of them seem to be true with the cut to the budget and felt like a whole different experience and lesser form of storytelling which I really enjoyed. From a story that kept me interested most of the time to trying to keep my eyes open sifting through mountains of text with a black screen and a sprite sitting in a chair. I really was digging the focus on psychological disorders and the religious subjects the story thrived on. Something that aggravates me more than anything is when they throw puzzles that take time to traverse and figure out, but every 3 steps I take I got stuck into a random encounter which also affected the platforming sections and would constantly throw me off. When all is said and done this jrpg was still one hell of a ride despite the mishaps and gripes. A game that can easily stand toe to toe with others like final fantasy 7 and Wild Arms. If you love some good JRPG action and anime this one is right up your alley! Don’t forget to pray to the RNG gods!!
