It sucks when you don't get a game everybody is raving about.
Yes, the atmosphere is great.
Yes, exploring the cabin and solving it's puzzles is really interesting.
Yes, it probably gets really good once you're past act 1.
I wouldn't know though, because if I have to play this broken ass card game that lets you breeze past 70% of it only to suddenly absolutely destroy you in 2 turns again, I going to gouge my eyes out IRL.

This game gives me a headache every time I play it, and I'm not gonna torture myself playing something not fun, just because it MIGHT get better later on.

It is a lot of fun, the writing is very good, artstyle is beautiful, characters are very charming, ect, ect...
BUT...
1. No map, which means harder/less fun to explore, and also meant that..
2. I only found 5 of the 12 shrines in my playthrough, and it was not enough to level up any of my stats. I was seeking every nook and cranny and I found NOTHING.
3. THE FINAL BOSS. He is really hard(of course), but he also trapped me in a corner at one point so I couldn't move and then proceeded to take away all my health, and twice when I SOOO close to beating him, he glitched out of existence and softlocked the game.

It was at that point I ragequit. You may judge me for that. But I'm not gonna waste my time on a boss that might, just as I'm about to beat him, take his ball and go home.

I'll probably try again at some point, but not for a while.
UPDATE: The same night I wrote this review, I had trouble sleeping, so I attempted the final boss again, and killed him on my second try. It gets half a star back just because I feel as if I overreacted somewhat, but all my points still stand.
