Disappointment with a beautiful soundtrack.

So disappointing. And I am not a KH hater. Nomura though, you're on notice pal

I played every game but BBS and the mobile games leading up to this (but watched summary vids) and holy moly this game sucks.
The gameplay is fine but rather button mashy, but the first 80% of the game is just wasting your fucking time dicking around soulless recreations of Disney movies and worlds. The choice to only visit each world once and cram all of its content into one visit absolutely fucking murders the pacing of this game. It is just absolutely GLACIAL.

I loved KH1+2 and 358/2; the writing in those has the perfect balance of nonsense to realness that makes them absolutely KINO, but KH3 jumps the fucking shark and is just incomprehensible. All of the plot is backloaded into the last <10 hours and just dumped on you all at once. While I was initially invested, the pacing of the first 80% of the game just killed me and I wanted it done. I think they missed a chance to deliver a really poignant ending but they just shoved sequel bait down our throats and ripped Sora from Kairi yet a fucking gain for an unholy level of unsatisfying.

Fuck this game

this looks like a good place to find some ingredients

Squenix felled off a bit with this one. Overall a decent game and there's lots of fun to be had, but it lacks a lot of it's original soul and charm.

Playing this game made me ask myself an important question: Do I actually like Kingdom Hearts, or do I just like what I think it could be if it was done better? The answer I came away with is that I'm not going to be playing Kingdom Hearts IV when it eventually releases.

it's trying to escaoe the cringe and that makes it so much worse. no, my child, embrace it. that's why we love you. where the fuck are the ff characters

At times, Kingdom Hearts III feels like an amusement park, it can be fun if you don't take it seriously, but damn it does not make any sense whatsoever.
The biggest problem in my opinion, is the fact it's not self aware, it's a story full of uninteresting plot points, boring villains and overly long cutscenes that exist only to make the game last longer.

The characters' motivations are complete nonsense, the entire goal of the game is literally nothing, because nothing gets explained. A large portion of the game feels pointless, and leaves you wondering why are you even playing this game.

That being said, I actually enjoyed some parts, in fact I really liked the magnificent worlds you visit throughout the game, they look great and every single one of them feels unique.

The gameplay is a fairly easy and simple, and there are some cool mini-games that add some charm to the game. Also the boss fights are decent, and the soundtrack is genuinely beautiful as expected.

Personally I expected something more, because this is nothing more than just an very mediocre videogame experience that doesn't really have anything exceptional to offer, just a silly little adventure.

Final Rating: "Average" ~ 5/10.

Unmitigated Evil changed my life thank you Jindo
