Before We Leave is a city building game where you must help a society rebuild after hiding underground for a long time due to an unknown apocalyptic event.

I had a blast playing this! It was fun to explore all of the cool things I could do with my cities while expanding my civilization to different islands and eventually different planets. There are a lot of fun surprises throughout the entire journey, and I was constantly discovering new things. This game is an interesting combination of relaxing / leisurely and stressful / terrifying for reasons that encroach spoiler territory.

One complaint that I have is that while I wanted to keep playing after I beat the game, there really wasn’t anything for me to work toward anymore once the conflict was resolved. Despite this, I shortly found myself starting a new file just so that I could keep playing this game!
