Super Mario Odyssey already brought the prospect of free-roaming 3D Mario back into question, with tight controls, alive levels and the most experimentation done with the property in YEARS. Bowser's Fury instead gives you a singular wide open world to explore and conquer, and while it amounts to several tiny levels being connected by bodies of water,
A) Riding on Plessie was something that 3D World underutilized. You do it a whole lot more here and it's fun as all hell.
B) It sold me on the concept of an open-world Mario game, just a bit closer to the ones we've been getting from AAA studios.

I am unbelievably excited for the future of Mario. This is one of the greatest demonstrations of what 3D platforming can be.
