Pokemon Legends Arceus is a vast improvement over pokemon sword and shield. A lot of complaints people had over the graphics of the game, as well as the gameplay of Sword and Shield improved here in Arceus.

The game is often viewed as: " Pokemon Breath of the Wild" Which honestly has its merits for being called that, though I think that it really has a lot of improvements over the previous formulaic entries. Now the game doesn't really have that many trainer battles as the point of this is your essentially a trainer who created the pokedex but it's kind of odd storywise because you're from the future so it would... essentially either create a paradox or an endless loop if you really think about it, so it's a bit odd.

The locations of the game are very unique, I think I really like how each of the different areas in Hisui look design wise, and I think while some locations can be considered "small" the amount of time you can dedicate to spending time in each region makes you appreciate their sizes.

The game also puts emphasis on attempting to make you understand that you're not only trying to catch these pokemon on you're attempting to create a Dex, you're studying about them.
Now to be honest, it would've made more sense if you had to do other things other than battle with set pokemon in order to complete the dex, but I'm not going to worry about it too much because it already was a bit convoluted with just having you battle with them.

Even if you have a strong level team, you can still get beaten by lower level enemies or even enemies that are equivalent. I really like that they gave importance to other pokemon other than just the legendaries or the iconic ones. As here they make pokemon have the chance of becoming alpha pokemon, which means they are these bigger more hostile versions of said pokemon, which if you get into a battle with them you will have a difficult time attempting to either defeat or catch one.

The story over all I think is Good, You could probably say at worst it's OK, the thing that brings down the story has to be specifically the ending. Now this game has technically 2 endings, one of the endings is more satisfying than the other, but the 2nd ending is more so a post game ending and even then it's kind of dark I'm not going to lie. Though it could also be perceived as lazy from Gamefreak, I've seen people online say they're just trying to build-up to a sequel, but how are we supposed to know if the character we play as in this game will be in that said sequel.

So the issue is this, even after you catch all the pokemon, as well as catch Arceus, he congratulates you and then he essentially teleport you back to Hisui, now if you haven't played the game just know that your character is not from the past, theyre from present time and were transported from a time rift to Hisui (the past).

You would think after catching all pokemon, after catching the main target of the game, being Arceus, you would get a final scene of you're character going back to the present, but after defeating Arceus, there's nothing, he just congratulates you and essentially leaves you stranded in the past.

Now I have to honestly say this is probably cope from some people, for some people, I honestly think that they just didn't want to make a new cutscene or add a new ending so they just left it like that. I could be wrong, if they do a sequel called pokemon legends "shadow lugia" or something... and you play as the same characters as before then I get maybe they'll show that your character goes on more adventures and then finally returns to the past.
But for now the ending is really sad in terms of your character, and honestly the custom character in pokemon legends Arceus is very expressive even if they don't say a single word.

I think one of the best moments in the game is where you get banished from the village, and your character essentially is stuck in the fields and she looks over a waterfall and then a tiny shiynx comes up to him/her (your character) and nice song plays, moments like that really add to the experience.

I think character ancestors are cool too, all of them have something about them that remind you of their Sinnoh Descendants in terms of looks, but are quiet different in how they act.

Overall I think that this game is a great improvement over the previous entries, I think that it lays the foundation for future games, and because this is written before the release of pokemon scarlet and Violet, based off what I'm seeing cause that game looks like it takes the fundamental game play of the older games, and combines it with the new game play structure of Arceus, giving us, what looks like,

The leap into a new and improved generations to come.

I highly recommend Pokemon Legends Arceus!

And I will be getting Scarlet and Violet when they release 😁👍🏻
