Classic Monster Hunters Ranked!

A series filled with terrible 10/10s.

Endless amounts of problems, but also a great roster with the most consistently predictable monster AI. Oppressive hitboxes make positioning matter more than ever, head turns help you to learn and make use of the stagger system, maps are a mix of constricted and open, almost all weapons are fun, and you can delay hits in strings like crazy. Amazing flawed masterpiece!
Terrible maps, mounting is broken, and some monsters can get too random, but still does a great job of carrying over a lot of the FU ethos and difficulty (probably harder than FU overall). Also a nice campaign once you get past tutorial stuff.
Balancing is beyond busted, content quality is uneven, progression is strange, and atmosphere is probably the worst in the series, but there's an insane wealth of great monsters and endless customisation in how you tackle them. Fantastic endgame too!
Probably the most well-structured game, and a solid newcomer choice. Great maps, and some excellent monsters. Let down a bit by "easy" difficulty, exhaust silliness, and more restricted dodge input windows during strings, but still rock-solid Monhun.
Really not a fan of underwater, but with some weapons it's perfectly tolerable. P3rd + new monsters + G rank = great game though!

Edited P3rd for clarity.
