Designer clothes for kids that only come in muted colors, great. At first I thought it was a dumb idea, kids already look too clean anyway, but some of the clothes do look nice and they are useful in a variety of contexts.

The standout item for me is a sweater with a tiny backpack on the back. Is this the only way to have backpacks in the game? Because theoretically you could make all kids wear that sweater-backpack combo and pretend it's a school uniform (set it as their everyday item). The only problem is that if they shower in the afternoon they would put back their uniform for no reason. Maybe there’s a better way to do this, or maybe I’m thinking about this mediocre pack a little too much.

Very cute kit with a distinct visual style. It offers a lot of items that look cutesy and colorful, but cheap at the same time. It is perfect for poor to middle class family gameplay. There’s a wood table and chairs that need a new paint-job, a lot of items with animal shapes, an activity table that looks home-made, a chair that looks like a crate with a sheet on top of it, pillows, etc. A lot of items are “camping specific” and you are probably not going to have them around at all times, like the marshmallow and chocolate briefcase (it’s only decorative, sadly), and the two standout items: a gigantic sheet tent (you can place items inside of it!) and the gigantic sheet movie projector. So many sheets everywhere.

You know, I never got around to building a greenhouse in the sims despite the fact that I’ve had several well-off gardeners. And now, thanks to the fact that I want to check out all the packs, I was encouraged to build one, and it looks really cute (I basically just placed the pre-made one, those things are a life-saver).

This pack offers matching glass walls and ceilings, a new floor, a few tables and shelves, a few decorative bags of dirt, and things like that. I don’t think it makes for a substantial addition to be honest. But would I be able to build a greenhouse that looks just as good without these items? Probably not.

You want to have like 20 more plants that look real cute? Here you go! It’s hard to criticize these kits because most of them are good at the niche thing they offer.

A kit for your bookworm sims. The biggest selling point is that it comes with stackable bits and pieces of library shelves, so now it's easier than ever to have walls full of books, like the library from Beauty and the Beast.

There's also empty shelves that blend seamlessly to place decorations inside or to pretend that someone stole all your books, I guess.

I was able to create a cute reading space by imitating one of the promotional pictures. I have a fireplace in one wall, and the rest of it is covered in books, it looks real cozy.

I like the rest of the items too, especially the stack of books that serve as a nightstand. The couches are not my style but we have enough of those already.

Part 1: Backlash
This is the most hated game pack, so far. It had a staggering amount of bugs on release, and, if the gameplay works as intended, what it offers is basically just aesthetics and a bunch of tiny animations related to weddings, so it’s going to resonate more with micro-managing players that like to make sims pose to record videos and stuff. I personally pause the game a lot to take pictures and I put them together in what I call “seasons” and “episodes”, so it’s nice to have new things to photograph. There was also a weird marketing stunt where EA pretended that they were not going to release the pack in Russia due to LGBT censorship. In actuality it was not illegal to release it there, as long as it’s only available for adults (just like the rest of the game).

Part 2: The world
Not all Game Packs come with worlds, but this one came with the Mediterranean-inspired Tartosa, which is twice as big as the standard size. It’s a residential world, so you can live there if you want, but the main point is to have a beautiful destination for a wedding and or honey moon. In the town square there are some wedding-related stores. There’s a stand to buy those flower bouquets that you throw at desperate people, and a stand to buy one of the new ostentatious cakes. There’s a stand to buy regular food (the only one that has nothing to do with weddings). There’s also a clothing store to try on wedding dresses, but it’s a rabbit hole, so it’s useless. If you want a functional one, you have to buy the Get Together expansion. There’s also a city hall rabbit hole if you want to get married instantly (even though you can still do that anywhere).

Part 3: CAS and Build Mode
As expected, there’s a considerable amount of cute new dresses with a white swatch, there’s even some with pants and some rainbow-colored ones for gender-bending sims. The male sims get those weird chest leaf things. There’s lots of new wedding arches too.

Part 4: The wedding events
There’s now a lot of shit that you need to do (although you don’t have to) before a wedding. You can travel to Tartosa to buy the previously mentioned stuff (dress, cake, and flowers). You can “announce your engagement” to other sims (that doesn’t really do anything) and you can assign wedding roles (the sims get very excited if you pick a role for them and they perform a new animation). You can pick the wedding officiant (the priest guy), the Sim of Honor (the only thing they do is a weird walk, they don’t even stand on the side during the ceremony), the ring bearer and flower pal (cute roles for children, pets can be ring bearers too). During the wedding you get a special micro-managing tool to control all the guests at once (please sit down! Please throw rice!). The usual wedding event with random goals is replaced by a new one similar to a holiday, and they are customizable (you can have a wedding where the only objectives are to cut the cake and drink tea, for example). There’s a weirdly long list of other parties outside of the actual wedding (is this what rich people do with their time?) but there’s nothing interesting going on there. Most notably, there’s no strippers for the bachelor and bachelorette parties, it’s just a regular party with customizable objectives like “drink”, “dance” and “eat desserts”. This is part of the usual Sims 4 child-friendly bullshit. We all have Wicked Whims installed, let’s stop pretending. The best new event might be the vow renewal ceremony, I always wanted to have that.

Part 5: Other gameplay stuff
Your sims can now slow dance at any time (the interaction later stolen by High School Years), this is used for the “first dance” goal at weddings. There’s some new gameplay items, also intended for weddings, that can be used out of context. These are the buffet table and drink fountains stolen from the Luxury Party Stuff Pack, a toasting celebration bucket, and a tea set. They also expand the beach gameplay a tiny bit. There’s a new message in a bottle collectable where you find romantic poems (this is only available in the Tartosa beaches), and sims now have the ability to draw things like hearts in the sand. You can also draw in the snow, which is a nice (and rare) cross-pack compatibility.

Part 5: My experience
Well, I just finished my first wedding and honeymoon. The main event was very cute but pretty stressful. I recommend doing the rehearsal if you don’t have things figured out, I also recommend leaving some of the objectives (the first dance, making toasts, etc.) to the reception, which is an event that happens after the wedding (apparently things like that exist in real life). That way you don’t have to hurry to complete all of the objectives at once, which is surprisingly hard. I don’t actually know how long the weddings are, I couldn’t find a timer so all the events ended out of nowhere. I made several mistakes:
1. I had a cake in my pocket but I didn’t know that I had to select it as the official wedding cake for it to show up in the wedding planning menu (that doesn’t actually matter, they can still cut it).
2. I didn’t know that there was a tool to make the guests sit down until it was too late, so all the guests were standing in my photos.
3. I couldn’t figure out how to do the bouquet throw, my sim would stand there for hours. I thought it was a bug, but you actually have to select a sim to throw it to.
Having said all that, I didn’t experience any bugs except for people walking up or down the aisle backwards (and you can simply ask them to do it again), It’s a shame that the pack is considered bad due to its initial release. It came out on February 23rd, so it’s likely that EA wanted the pack to be ready before March (and ideally on Valentine’s Day), so they chose to release an unfinished pack, as always. As for the quality it has right now, I personally enjoyed the content. I could live without it, but it adds a bunch of cute stuff that I will use in most of my saves.

This is one of those brand collaboration packs, like the pointless Diesel Stuff from The Sims 3. I had never heard of Moschino before, and I think their clothes are hella ugly (except for the spikey dress, I like that one). CAS and Build Mode are so shit that people hate the pack without even considering the gameplay. But it’s all in the gameplay.

Being a freelance fashion photographer is one of the best jobs in the game. You get an assignment like “take a photo of two sims in underwear” so you invite models to your house (or you take them to a beautiful place), and you ask them to change, and then you make them pose. Besides giving artsy sims something fun to do, there’s a lot of story potential when it comes to working with models (developing a friend group, meeting a celebrity, falling in love, your spouse becoming jealous, etc.). The photography menu is extended with more options, and you get special interactions to facilitate your job, so now you don’t need to use cheats or mods to change people’s clothes at will.

Another pack centered around rich people, this time it's about rich women's bedrooms (you could use it for boys as well). The objects do look nice and it feels like a complete set with great matching swatches. There's a gold and white swatch, a brown and gold swatch, etc. The main problem is simply that there's nothing that stands out as new, and it's particularly similar to Vintage Glamous Stuff, even borrowing the make-up mirror gameplay object (this one does look better, though). Oh, there's also a record player that you can use as a stereo, not sure if we had that already.

Edit: I was playing a rich family, and I thought "wait, I don't remember placing a TV on my sim's bedroom", and then I realized that one of the new paintings work as a camouflaged TV, so that's definitely the standout item of the kit. I don't think I will use it very often though, maybe if I ever make an idiot Elon Musk fan who thinks outlandish technology is cool.

Enough people in this world said "I need more fake toilet paper and towels to decorate my bathrooms" to manifest this into existence. As most other kits, the swatches are very nice, you can make everything look like luxury products by making them all black, and there's also designs with bright colors and kitty ears for children (plus the new wall drawings). I simply don't give a shit about bathroom decorations, I'm not even sure if there's anything that stands out as new. The non-usable plunger, maybe.

More swimwear! I guess somebody wanted this. The standout item is the goofy-looking floaties to place around their arms and hips.

I’m kinda mad that the sims marketing has decided to be so PC and child friendly. Despite the fact that the sims on the cover are eating pizza in the kitchen, this pack is the one with sexy times clothes (the equivalent to The Sims 3 Master Suite Stuff). For men it offers an open shirt and a bunch of normal-looking underwear, and for female sims there’s a lot of different pieces. This is not something I needed to be honest, but it's nice to have more options.

https://www.backloggd.com/u/HuFe/list/the-sims-4-add-ons-ranked/

This one is inspired by the Brazilian carnival, with a focus on queer fashion. It’s one of the few packs that include new make-up. If you want gender-bending clothes for your homo sims, this has you covered, and it also has a few really nice dresses for the girls.

https://www.backloggd.com/u/HuFe/list/the-sims-4-add-ons-ranked/

A lot of people wanted a male fashion kit and those people don't seem to like this one, I don't know why. I think it's fine, maybe a bit too focused on weird sweaters. The most interesting thing is that it offers skirts specifically made for men. I personally don't play with gender bending men very often, so this kit is mostly useless to me.

https://www.backloggd.com/u/HuFe/list/the-sims-4-add-ons-ranked/

The Korean fashion kit ends up being more useful for female sims than for male sims, there’s some nice brown sweater/jackets if you want to make a sexy librarian or something. The robes like the one that the male sim has in the cover of the kit don't look that interesting in game because it sticks to their bodies (as we know, the game doesn’t have wind/flow effects), but they are still nice, they make sims look like secret agents. It also has a cotton/fur sweater that looks kinda interesting (I don’t know anything about fashion).

https://www.backloggd.com/u/HuFe/list/the-sims-4-add-ons-ranked/

One of the best kits, it comes with some gorgeous Indian fashion. I really wish these kits came with hair and beards, it is a missed opportunity.
