Sseeing how Yakuza Kiwami is a remake of the the first PS2 game, it's a big step down from Yakuza 0 in terms of both story telling and gameplay. The combat in this game is really fun but I feel like the story set pieces aren't properly designed to take advantages of what it can offer. A lot of bosses are very gimmicky and are straight up annoying to fight against. You're forced to spam healing items to get through their bullshit. Overall, there's a lot of jank that ends up taking away from the gameplay experience.

I love how the story humanizes Nishikiyama and tells the story of his descent into villainy in story cinematics at the end of every chapter. Looking back, Yakuza 0 did a great job by setting up a lot of groundwork for this game.

In conclusion, Yakuza Kiwami only feels like a remake in terms of visuals and modernized side content. A lot of the design philosophy in this game feels like it's still from the Ps2 era which is weird seeing how this game wasn't a remaster but a proper remake

Trails into the Reverie is a satisfying conclusion to the first half of the Kiseki series. Any other franchise would have moved onto the next big thing after a finale like CS4 but deciding to stay in Western Zemuria & explore the consequences of the war on Crossbell & Erebonia is what makes the franchise so loved. The overall setting and characters are respected and there's meticulous planning done to make it feel like every piece of this fictional world is moving forward at the same time

I really loved that the game chose to focus on the remnants of the Erebonian soldiers that sided with the Operation Jormungandr. Crossbell being reoccupied again and running across the country to get back your party members again was pretty meh. The highlight of this game was C's route and the characters in his party. I wasn't expecting to get attached to them in the beginning but Falcom cooked hard with all of them. If I had to rank the routes it had to be C>Rean>>Lloyd

Trails to Azure is a solid JRPG but imo it's the weakest game in the entire Trails franchise

Azure has a lot of cool twists but does nothing interesting with them. It's almost like the game does it for the sake of shock value. A good example would be the Grimwood reveal at end. He's revealed as one of the major conspirators behind the entire thing despite not being that much involved in the plot for the majority of both game, barring the conference. He has a change of heart with a couple of words from the SSS, gets gravely injured by mariabell and we don't see him for the next four games

Also the game's ending is really bad and abrupt due to it tying directly into the Crossbell Arc. All important events that should be in the game's finale are relegated to the end credits. Maybe they should have made the final dungeon less of a drag and focused more on the story telling in the end
