Have you ever seen Saving Private Ryan? How about The Thin Red Line? Or, going beyond World War II, how about Paths of Glory or Full Metal Jacket?

If you’ve answered yes to any of those then, rest assured, you’ve already had a similar and, undeniably, vastly superior experience to anything Call of Duty WWII could provide.

In place of any relevance to the actual history of the conflict, the game instead offers a shallow greatest hits compilation of the war as fondly remembered cinematic spectacle. Too much of it was very familiar. Little, if any, of it is actually worth remembering.
