Metroid Dread fucking schooled my ass. Never before have I been so utterly fooled MULTIPLE TIMES into thinking I was lost or even beyond help, only to have the folks at MercurySteam jump in and go "actually you're doing great, the power-up you need is right here." This thing flows so fucking well, it puts most other games released in the past decade to shame. Every aspect of it beautifully crafted, every level and character designed to the most elegant, readable degree. Metroid Dread may have taken 15 years to gestate, but it isn't slow-moving. Rather, it feels like a spontaneous, borderline religious experience. I'll return, and next time I'll be ready.
