I have completed the game a second time now (after abandoning my nightmare run in 2022) and it remains one of the absolutely best first person shooters out there. The weapons, the enemies, the sounds and music, as well as the art design are just incredible. I even enjoyed the plot and lore of the game. The only enemy I do not enjoy fighting is the Marauder (the one with the reflective shield, shotgun and dog) . I get that this enemy is supposed to be a challenge as his only purpose is to hunt down the Slayer, but I feel like they went to far with him. You have to be in a certain range for him to make the attack that gives you the only opening for you to damage him, but this range is not clearly communicated to the player. Get too close and he hits you with his shotgun, go too far away and he summons a dog and shoots projectiles at you. They introduce him in a bossfight and that is where I feel he belongs. But throwing him at the player while there are 25 other demons in the area is what made me drop my nightmare (highest difficutly) run even though I love the thrill of that difficulty. I also have to mention that they did Mick Gordon dirty and people should be fired for that fiasco. Apart from that, this is a great video game and certainly up there among the best games of its genre.

Agreed about Marauder, wanted to write the same about him! I think the main problem about him is that it requires a very different rhythm from the rest of the game. In all the other encounters you need to constantly move around, switch weapons, get loot out of enemies, and with Marauder you have to stop all that and focus on this essentially parrying mini-game. My solution was to clear all the rest of the field and then return to the Marauder, because otherwise it's like playing to different games at the same time.
