Are there 3 different series running concurrently under the Yakuza brand? Like SMT and Persona? Or did they rebrand Yakuza to Like a Dragon? Really confusing. I've never played any of them, but I have been curious because they seem like a lot of fun.

"Like a Dragon" is a literal translation of the series' Japanese title "Ryu Ga Gotoku". After the enormous success of Yakuza: Like a Dragon, they decided to rebrand globally. Judgement is a spinoff series continuing the beat-em-up style that the first six~ games had. The main series is turn-based now.

As a fan, how did you feel about that?

I felt it was a tad unnecessary but I understand why they did it. Unifying the brand worldwide (while also removing the name that refers to an extant criminal organization) allows the franchise to breath more. Especially since, from what I understand, the series will be focusing less on the Yakuza organizations themselves going forward (following some major events in Yakuza: Like a Dragon)
