Sonic Generations gets a lot of things right, especially for a Sonic game. Revisiting past Sonic levels is a blast, especially seeing Classic takes on Modern levels and vice versa. Iconic tunes and characters all bolster the nostalgia factor of this anniversary celebration.

The story isn't anything to write home about, but it's mostly a backdrop to the gameplay. The PC port does suffer from some dismaying issues, particularly when it comes to the Time Attack mode. Overall, though, Sonic Generations is one of the most solid Sonic games to date.

100%: Some glitches/bugs introduced by the PC port can make playing the Time Attack mode a real challenge.

The loveable purple dragon from the late 90s is back and better than ever! A collection of the first three Spyro games, Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a beautiful trio of colorful characters and vivid setpieces.

Traditional collectathon gameplay permeates each and every corner of the experience, presenting this classic series to a new generation. Not every level is a winner, but you're sure to have a blast playing as Spyro...and burning Moneybags's tuchus.

100%: Mostly traditional collectathon achievements. As mentioned, some levels can be a real pain, but shouldn't be too challenging overall.

This game is a masterpiece all the way through. Combining rhythm and action effortlessly, each level, game mode, and bonus in this game is a work of art. Not a music person? The wonderful accessibility options ensure you can still enjoy this rockin' experience. Hi-Fi Rush captures the essence of a Saturday morning cartoon, and I'm sitting two inches away from the TV soaking it all in.

100%: Be prepared to do a substantial amount of replays to grab everything. Luckily, I never felt the game get stale, as the action-packed combat and different game modes, special attacks, and chips meant I could always try something new.

Risk of Rain 2 is a pinnacle of the roguelite genre. Evolving on the first game's basis, the jump to 3D breathes new life into the frantic scramble to ward off hordes of enemies while trying to stay alive. Characters and builds are diverse, and the soundtrack is an absolute masterpiece. Survivors of the Void is the extra cherry on top, adding even more content to an already-packed game.

Eagerly awaiting the release of DLC 2: Seekers of the Storm. I truly hope Gearbox has something good in store for us.

100%: Some specific achievements will take you run after run after run to try and find the exact scenario/item combination/stage that you need, so all you can do is play more.

How do you envision remastering one of the all-time classics in the roguelite genre? Risk of Rain Returns is the answer. More than just a fresh coat of paint, the remastered Risk of Rain brings tons of new characters, items, and challenges. Beautiful pixel graphics paired with an absolutely amazing soundtrack will have you wanting to do "just one more run" every time.

The controls take some getting used to, and you certainly cannot try and play this game the same way you would Risk of Rain 2. While not as much of a slam dunk as its successor, Risk of Rain Returns remains a beautiful way to not only pay homage to the beginning, but bring the game forward into the current gaming landscape.

100%: Some Monsoon Trials are devilish in nature - prepare to practice and fail many times, especially if you're going for all gold crowns.

If you're itching for more Portal action, but can't wait for Valve to figure out how to count to 3, then look no further than Portal Stories: Mel. A community-made mod, this short, yet sweet storyline takes place before the events of Portal 2.

The puzzles are tricky, sometimes frustratingly so. Don't hop into this right after finishing Portal 2 expecting to breeze through it (especially not Advanced Mode). The storyline is decent, as is the voice-acting - not amazing, but good enough to get you across the finish line. The best part? It's free!

100%: You'll have to explore some tucked-away nooks and crannies to find all the hidden secrets, but nothing too difficult.

The first of the Final Fantasies remastered to show off all of its pixel glory. The pixel remasters are part of Square's attempt to bring the classic games in the FF series to modern audiences. With polished graphics and some nice QoL features, Final Fantasy 1 is a short, yet enjoyable introduction to one of the most recognizable franchises today.

Some level of "old-game design" still exists, so you may still find yourself looking up a walkthrough on where to go next. These games were certainly not designed to have the player beat all random encounters they come across, so it can be easy to overlevel important fights just by playing the game normally. If you can look past a few inconveniences, there's a magical adventure waiting in store.

100%: Finding all of the monsters for the 100% Bestiary can be tricky and time-consuming due to random spawns. The level 50 achievement may seem somewhat difficult, but you'll likely grind up to that by attempting to find the secret boss of this game.

Turtle Rock's solo foray into the horde shooter genre was always destined to fall short. With promotional material constantly spouting "From the Developers of Left 4 Dead 2," people had intense expectations for what Back 4 Blood would be when it was released. And while the game never quite reaches the peaks of the Left 4 Dead series, Back 4 Blood is a serviceable, even fun game to play with friends.

The DLC inarguably makes the experience better - more card options, new enemies, and two story acts that stand out with impressive setpieces and locations. It's fun to make a 15-card deck and build your Ridden-slayer how you want to play, though the "roguelite" features that the game advertised in trailers are limited to random cards you find in a campaign and the detrimental cards at the start of each map. Still, the game is "fun enough" and kept me coming back for more with friends.

100%: You'll need to have both DLCs to get all achievements. Clearing Acts 5 and 6 on No Hope is challenging, but doable. The PvP Swarm mode achievement can be done in a private lobby, so no need to worry about finding random players trying to play a very inactive game mode. Killing 53,600 Ridden will certainly take you the longest - after completing all other achievements, I still had about 30k to go.

Roboquest is a game for the FPS adrenaline junkies. High-octane encounters with 6 different classes and tons of guns to choose from make for an incredibly fun experience. Controls are smooth and fluid meaning you can jump, grapple, and jetpack your way out of any sticky situation you might find yourself in. Classes are just different enough that they feel familiar while allowing each run to feel unique. Oh, did I mention the absolutely killer soundtrack?

100%: Completing the Museum will be the longest stretch, but luckily you can use golden wrenches to buy any weapon/enemy cards that you're having trouble finding. There are a couple of co-op achievements you'll need a bro-bot for, too.
