This review contains spoilers

Chuuni right wing propaganda that persists on itself, skirting along the lines before completely falling into a scummy hole of “there is no justice so the strong must rule”. Disgusting trash, looking forward to the English translation now because there’s certainly going to be some fireworks when people realize OOPS IT DEFENDS NAZIS

it literally paints the JP government as unambiguously evil and shows how it's built its foundation on top of everything they've stole and pillaged from its minorities, and the only german character in it is one of the most despicable in the entire game???????
@potbrick think you're taking me a bit too literally there with nazis. I wasn't exclusively referring to germans as much as the ideals presented in the conclusion. Also I don't see how its unambiguously evil portrayal of the government's wrongs is mutually exclusive from its full thesis on how there isn't really a good, moral ground to ever stand on. It paints the act of fighting against tyranny and the status quo as deeply sinful, especially in regards to Kanae's character. It defends the act of rapists and fully evil characters via sympathetic throughlines to critique that people's sense of justice is always in error. It's an almost nihilistic work that in my reading gave nothing but chuuni bullshit argument of "follow discipline and have conviction that there's nothing truly evil".

I was going to update the review with this but I kinda just want to make this a comment? A friend of mine is reading the Very Official translation now and has gotten very far ahead of where I stopped, and it's very funny in an ironic way that he described it to me as this:
"the prose and the combat writing will just 'nice nice nice' and then randomly -> alright now here's a rape scene. they'll spend 30 minutes on kinda cheerful SoL and then realize they have a quota to add rape. Like reading subahibi, very 'untranslatable' peak kino preferred choice"

You have to be nauseatingly arrogant to think you can actually comprehend a work without having even finished it, and have a disgustingly reductive way of interacting with media to then attach an all encompassing political ideology to this work you haven't finished and judge it in its entirety.
If it makes you feel any better I’ve finished it since the review and my feelings remain completely unchanged lol.

Great media literacy. I also think the most anti-facist story i've ever read justifies Nazis.
"It paints the act of fighting against tyranny and the status quo as deeply sinful, "

Sweetie you have a long way to go, keep at it
