@LukeGirard True!!!
We will never understand each other then XD
Glad that I wasn't a fan of either then x)
Disliking/liking both is valid.
Initially dropped this review immediately out of sheer frustration at Hour 3 of Professional while musing on remake philosophy.
I just couldn’t comprehend how this was in any fashion anything other than a horridly safe remake affair with intensely repetitive serious Sam but bad that is terrified of doubling down on anything new or cool while 7R is the controversial one for going for SOMETHING with it all.
Drives me insane

To jump in on the remake philosophy musings you mentioned.
I guess it depends on expectations. I want to replay a game I loved with better visuals, modern controls and some nice extras on top bringing the game into the modern era, that's what a remake is to me, I want mostly the same game, that's the point. FFVII was a "reimagining" not a remake and I honestly don't see them as comparable products.

@FallenGrace you must not have played RE4 in a while if this game doesnt also fall squarely into the "reimagining" camp
@Multigenre - I was replying to LunaEndlessWitch regarding their comment on remake philosophy generally and never once mentioned Resident Evil 4 in those generalised musings of my own though I understand the misunderstanding due to review this is on.
Perfect remakes to me are more like the recent Dead Space.

@FallenGrace my fault. completely agree with u tho
@MultiGenre - No problem, I understand how it could have been read that way. I still need to finish RE4 to have my full thoughts on it 👍🏻
