Death Stranding is probably the most unique game I’ve ever played, for better and for worse. Hideo Kojima creates an absolutely beautiful but eerie post apocalyptic world so interesting that I just had to explore it and find out more about it. The story he crafts is convoluted and confusing but very emotional with characters I genuinely liked and cared for. This made walking from point A to point B more necessary as I just had to keep continuing the story further. Although I loved the characters, the dialogue was often not the best. The Mario and “Princess Beach” line killed me inside.

Many people call this game “a walking simulator” and to be fair I absolutely agree. The gameplay loop starts off extremely strong, and the world is introduced with many challenges and enemies to surpass. The reason I actually really enjoyed the walking is because it is quite relaxing due to the gorgeous graphics and music. Also, the challenges in your way make getting to your destination very rewarding. However, as the game goes on this loop gets quite tedious, especially in episode 3 and 6 which are both way too long. When weapons are introduced, the gameplay becomes a lot more interesting, and the enemies became easier to beat.

Overall, Death Stranding has its fair share of problems and I’m not brushing past that. But this game is just so incredibly unique and unlike anything I’ve ever played before. I had a really amazing time!
