I wish this game was as stupid as it's concept. I felt my soul leave my body several times due to border and I have a theory that the Sonic series is as inconsistent as it is because Sonic Team made Lost Impact and the Lord cursed them because of it

Genuinely the perfect Sonic game for when it game out. Taking the feedback from Sonic Unleased and stripping it back for better and worse.
Great level themes and aesthetics and a well implemented gimmick in the form of the wisps. While some stages can be far too simplistic and blocky for their own good, the creativity and fun from many of them makes up for it. This is also the last time I'll enjoy a Sonic story for a decade!

A massive improvement over it's predecessor. Lacks a lot in ambition but it succeeds very well in said lacking ambition. A fun and comfortable journey that lacks impact.

After playing all of the Sonic platformers, I can't say this is the worst Sonic game anymore. It's too functional with some elements of fun to be had. I'd be an extra star higher easily removed from the context of the series.
Within the context however it's fucking despicable. Desperate for love, made without the care or drive to earn it. Forces is truly the lowest of the franchise, which includes games as poorly conceived, dysfunctional and reputation destroying as 06, Shattered Crystal, and Blast
