Steam Next Fest Autumn 2023 Demos I Played, Ranked

Nothing here!

When One Step from Eden was announced to be getting an online PVP offshoot, my first thought was "yeah, that's a pretty good idea." I did not understand just how good this idea was. I've never seen such a perfect blend of card game and fighting game mechanics, swirled together into an incredibly addictive and fun competitive experience with some of the best rollback netcode I've seen in any fighting game. When this game officially releases I am praying that it gets big, because this game genuinely has unbelievable potential, and so far it's reaching that potential with no trouble.
Inti Creates back at it again with another banger. I knew this was gonna be fun but it turns out this is actually the first truly interconnected Metroidvania Inti has made since...maybe ever? Took them long enough, but I'm glad that they seem to be knocking out of the park first try. Movement tech is super fun so far!
An extremely unique gameplay loop, beautiful art and music, and a moving story with dark themes. This game ideally should be doing everything right for me, but I'm a little worried about the more minor systems. Stuff like the crafting and cooking systems, resource gathering, and losing currency on death (first time I've seen that mechanic in a game where you die in one hit, not sure if I like it). Will most likely be pretty good at worst and truly profound at best, so I'm keeping my eye on this one.
Super glad I got to play this one with a friend. Seems like it will be a fun time and luckily is priced well for the type of game it is. Small nitpick but I wish the random modifiers stayed until the end of the run instead of ending per individual level.
Ok, Dodo Re Mi is kind of funny but will probably lose its charm fast. But wow, FixyText is a real winner. So unbelievably funny and about as good with 4 people as it is with 8, which is a hard thing to pull off. Probably my favorite new Jackbox game since Patently Stupid.
This ranking might seem a little harsh because there really isn't anything wrong with this game. It's great fun, but it is also just more Ghostrunner, though now with a cool motorcycle section. I liked the addition of little puzzles just to break up the pace a bit more. Sometimes the physics can get a bit jank but that's my only criticism.
This game is loud and goofy and insane and actually controls crazy well. Very obviously inspired by Mario 64 and Odyssey but with a drug-trip twist. I definitely want to pick up the full game eventually but the whole vibe might be a bit...overwhelming if I were to play a lot. Also the last level wasn't nearly as fun as the others, but overall still good fun.

Really pretty artstyle but terrible optimization at the moment. Also a little worried that I experienced basically the entire game in my time with the demo, not sure what else could be done to surprise or interest me in the full game.
At first I thought this was gonna just be Peggle but bad, but it's actually Peggle but bad with extra steps!

Instead of controlling where the ball is shot, the ball is angled randomly and you control where the pegs are placed on the screen. A pretty cool concept honestly, but the physics are just all wrong. As the demo went on it became clear to me that it's very hard to design a game like this well, and as a result I was super frustrated with this one.
