All idiotic controversies regarding changes to Ada appearance aside, I think this is a very competent DLC. Yes, it reuses some of the some of the same setting and gameplay mechanics, but it manages to bring enough new to the table to not feel like cheap cash grab.Even if story-wise and logic-wise there are some mismatches with the main campaign I had far more fun with this DLC than with its counterpart for original RE4.

While I really enjoyed RE 4 remake I can't shake the feeling that in a way it diminishes the legacy of the original. It is a very good game with solid mechanics, great visuals and fun gameplay but at the same time it is just another great RE game and not the best action game ever created by human hand. RE4 remake is not a life changing event and maybe it never had chances to be one, but by playing it safe the game acknowledges that it does not even try to aim at greatness. And without that ambition the whole endeavor feels a bit pointless.

Disappointing asset flip that only in the second act feels like getting somehow creative but quickly returns to its uninspiring form. New power does not deliver anything interesting and comparisons to Parasite Eve are truly baffling for me. Only at the end we get a glimpse of more interesting battle system, which is still a far cry from PE. I love Village but this feels like a cash grab and Rose, as a character, deserves better.
