I seriously do not believe that my overall opinions of Fallout 4 will change in any way upon my completion of Nuka World, so I'll note my thoughts about Fallout 4.

Upon finishing my 3rd (and final) playthrough of Fallout 4, I have to say it's easily the game I have thought less and less of every time I have returned to it. Now with my thoughts crystallized after 3 playthroughs across different points of time (and on different systems), I can easily say that I just cannot get behind Bethesda's brand of western RPGs.

While entirely playable, and not egregiously terrible, Fallout 4 remains one of the blandest video games you can get your hands on. Bethesda's brand of RPGs had gotten old very fast for someone as cynical as myself; stale quest design, uninteresting stories, a misunderstanding of their IP's own timeline, so on and so forth. All of these collective issues combine together into a gaming experience that is nearly impossible to take seriously or even properly engage with besides wandering around.

Fallout 4's exploration seems to be its only solid feature. Exploring The Commonwealth provides Fallout 4's greatest bits of storytelling and gameplay, with the large majority of quests and mediocre combat dragging out the experience to aching degrees.

There's plenty more to complain about when it comes to Fallout 4: the terrible crafting interface, stat check changes, neutered dialog options, horrid voice acting, being dumped with quests without ever asking (many of which are radiant), and so much more. Thankfully, there are other people out there that have expressed these concerns (and even fixed some of them via mods) better than I could ever dream to, yet it's still worth repeating.

Like Fallout 3, Fallout 4 just makes me feel... empty. I'm not looking forward to another single-player Bethesda Fallout game, even though I'll play it, anyway.
