Fans despised this game when it came out for stepping too far from the “original formula” but that’s what makes it special. They solved the map issue and got rid of most of the door simulator part that made older games lose immersion. Great plot, great characters, amazing ost and definitely the scariest entry of the games.

Silent Hill 4 The Room was my first SH game which I played and tbh. I really like it, great setting and gameplay loop. But I agree it steps quite far away from the “original formula” but I rather have something like this than an action trash firework which are RE 5 and 6. Even though I love the Resident Evil franchise, Silent Hill 4 is at least still horror which you can't really say about RE 5 +6 and maybe even 4.
