FFIV 3D...last we spoke, I dropped you because of the bullshit that was Dr. Lageu. He is still bullshit, but since I cheated myself 2 Elixirs I was able to get past him and advance to the rest of the game.

It gets a bit better, and there is unique charms to this remake (Namingway needing a new purpose in life, seeing character's thoughts) but also hurdles like the Dr. and the Demon Wall that were changed in this remake feel like a middle finger.

The story is a solid tale of not letting hatred consume you. One charm I like about these Final Fantasy stories is the simplicity like that. I do wish that they wouldn't do three "ha you thought they were dead" scenes in a row, though. That felt cheap.

I was interested in this one from knowing Hyadain's Golbez's Four lords of the Elements remix for the last ever and it is worth it...once I take out the garbage DS music and mod in the Pixel Remaster music. There we go, NOW it's good. Thankfully they are hype, and their rematch is the best fight in the game.

If I had not been given this one and had to choose which version to play, I would recommend Pixel Remaster instead, the difficulty changes just hurt it a bit much, even if the narrative changes are improvements.

The game has a great integration of story and gameplay elements like with Cecil's journey, Tellah, and more, but this remake made Dr. Lagae such a bullshit fight that if you don't already have Elixirs (I had no Elixirs) by the time you enter the tower you're just not gonna beat him unless RNG is heavily in your favor and guess what? It's not gonna be because he controls the tempo of the entire fight. I want to praise this game but I can't if one of its bosses are complete BS.

I had a similar incident with Golbez before but I could learn my way past him. This feels like you can't learn and is dependent entirely on luck, and that's a game I don't want to play.
