Memorable and iconic, but absurdly hard, and the version on the big collection can freeze on a certain section of a very hard level. Most of the challenge comes form what you can't do, as well as how easily you can be knocked into pits. I couldn't imagine playing this on a legit NES and having to beat it in one go with no save states. Even on Famicom Disk there are save files.

Stairs are also pretty clunky.
