Danganronpa 2 is a follow up to Danganronpa 1 that improves on a lot that was there, adding more areas to explore, a fresh new cast of characters, the tropical setting, and new cases.

The first case is fucking nuts, and the crazy part is it isn't even who the victim is or the culprit or ON THE MEAT BONE. It's showing Nagito's insane side right out of the gate, something I figured the game would have reserved until later. And already he proves himself to be excellent.

Case 2's a little whack lol and has its own obtuse moment with the gravel swimsuit and the case within a case and like all in all it's not that great and doesn't do anything.

2 was a little whack but 3 was simply a mess. The most contrived method of creating a case in the whole series (even if the mastermind wants murders to happen fast), a double murder because we have to have those, it's a known fact that the second victim was changed from Fuyohiko to Saiyonji at the last minute and the ramifications that had on solving her murder (that is to say, it was brushed over), DR2 continues the Ace Attorney Trilogy tradition of the third case being the worst.

Case 4 is also contrived but the execution is a lot better. There's the Zero Escape room where you get to solve a bunch of puzzles, but there's also the little things like losing your ability to run after some time. It's great. The case and culprit are okay, but I like Sonia an awful lot so her reactions to everything struck more of a chord.

Case 5. This is Danganronpa 2 right here. This is the single best case in Danganronpa without question. If I rated the whole game solely on this case, 5 stars. Holy shit Komaeda, the multiple cases of set up, and then who he gets to ultimately do the killings what the fuck, the don't call it Komaeda's Wild Ride for nothing, this is the best Danganronpa gets.

Case 6 is neat but the real best part is all the glitches in the matrix at the start. I feel like DR2 didn't get an anime after all in part because you just couldn't capture this case properly in any other medium as you could here. Junko is back and she doesn't really do anything interesting beyond be huge. Yeah.

Some characters kinda just exist to do nothing like Akane. She isn't even used as a red herring like Toko or have key scenes like Asahina, she just does nothing.

It's a fun game and a fantastic sequel with the best single case in the series, possibly of these murder mystery games.
