I will absolutely review each game individually when I have the time, but for now I'll say you can't go wrong with any of them.

input lag and god awful scaling is a pretty big issue maybe I think I suppose

@HylianBran the input lag is really only something you'd notice if you've played the games on anything else a million times and its not that bad, the scaling for SNES is weird but once again, you'd need be familiar with the originals. I do wish both were fixed, though
these shouldn't have been problems to begin with but if you're a casual who doesn't really care about this stuff then its not a dealbreaker
Sounds like the X collection is superior, I was told to get that over the legacy collections

@Reddish I don't need to be paying attention or have prior experience with the games to notice it. Others might not notice it but that doesn't change the fact that the game would be better with no input lag at all. These are games designed to be played in a certain way and the fact that this is a problem is evident that this is rushed. Somebody was paid over doing their job poorly. Combined with the lag of my LCD screen it feels pretty bad to play for me. And on the scaling, hot take, it is that bad. It isn't just the SNES games either, the ps1 games look jank too in 1080p. My beef with stuff like this is that fixing it doesn't come at the cost of anything else. Simply having an option for interpolation would've made these collections soooooo much more of legitimate options for playing these games for people like me. In my opinion, stuff like this being unnoticeable to the average consumer makes it worse. If they don't know that this is a port-related problem, they will think the games were always this one to begin with. Of course they won't think "oh wow the health bar looks janky this game sucks" but you can't rule out the possibility of that subconsciously affecting their perception of the game and I think that's really sad

Anyways sorry for being a dick, I imagine that PC players can mod this collection into being better which is cool. God bless the community.

@NOWITSREYNTIME17 yeah it's really good. The resolution is 240p though. That's great for authenticity but considering it released fairly late into the generation I imagine some bought the game and were unable to play it on their modern TV with component cables. Thankfully if you have an upscaller or CRT it's all good

@HylianBran well, yeah, I get that entirely. This collection shouldn't have had these issues to begin with, and I actually agree with your points lol, as I'm also stingy as hell about ports/collections/remasters etc in terms of preservation of these titles. XLC was how I first played these games, and even after knowing about those problems it's still mostly my preferred way to play in terms of convenience. If anything I can always just say to support the collection then emulate the originals/buy the PS2 collection for maximum accuracy, but if XLC is someone's only option, then it's still mostly the same thing.
Also no need to apologize in the context of this conversation, I think bringing up these issues are important. Also, yes! There is a PC community for this game, although the only mod I've used on it is the undub that restores the licensed music and Japanese VA. There are also retranslation mods for all four games? I'd have to check again

nah it's all good. Just don't get it on switch because they made the second collection a digital download
