As a longtime Tales fan who started with Abyss and has played almost every title released in NA, I'm so happy I finally had the chance to experience another classic Tales game thanks to the English patch, which would not exist without Life Bottle's hard work!

Pros: I played on Normal and the difficulty balance was just right for me. For an older Tales game, the battle system holds up remarkably well, and there's lots of variety among the characters and their playstyles. The party members are, with a few exceptions (Kongman lmao), memorable and fun, especially Stahn, Rutee, and Leon. Inomata's character designs are iconic for the time, and her artwork during the ending credits made me tear up. The voice acting is stellar and the music has some catchy standout tracks.

Cons: There is so much content in this game, which is great, but many of the sidequests felt lacking and had little payoff. Collecting titles was fun, but purposeless. Most of the dungeons are lengthy and tedious, and the pacing... holy hell, the pacing. Instead of towns and dungeons being spaced out like in most RPGs, later in the game, there are stretches of dungeons that last for hours. Holy bottles are your best friend during this portion.

If you're a fan of the Tales series and/or classic PS2 RPGs, I would absolutely give Destiny DC a shot. While it doesn't measure up to my favorite Tales games, playing it felt so nostalgic that it made me want to revisit them.

Finally, RIP Tales and **** Bamco for killing my favorite series in cold blood </3

Trails is a series notorious for its ups and downs, but Reverie is, in my opinion, the most balanced entry we've seen in a long while. A satisfying conclusion to goodest boi Rean's arc, and C's arc was beautifully done, with a very lovable cast of new characters. Lloyd's arc was fine too.

Overall, this is definitely a high point of the series -- the only real unfortunate aspect is NISA's fumbling of the English release.

cannot stop thinking about the guy on /r/visualnovels who listed a bunch of philosophy texts as required reading before jumping into this vn.

i would like to go back to it but i'm on chapter five and have yet to see the payoff for sitting through the h-scenes tbh

faize sheifa beleth carried this game.
