A good effort on Nintendo's behalf for the debut of Mario in their handheld system. The game is limited to the hardware and the early knowledge of Nintendo EAD and it shows in its simplicity for both the levels and design, as well as graphics and even performance with some slowdown and some graphical glitches here and there.

This is a very short game (can be beat in less than an hour) but it was worth exploring to see the ideas and design capacity that Nintendo did at the time. The 'shmup' sections in the game provide a nice variety.
