NieR was a great surprise during the PS3/360 era since the game manage to garner a cult following despite certain shortcomings of not being a major AAA game.

The game presents a very interesting story direction of a dad protecting his daughter and trying to help her with a rare disease she has creating a unique attachment between them and you, the player. The setting is mysterious and creates intrigue in combination with the story. In certain ways, the setting reminded of Ico which is one of my favorite games.

Graphics and performance are on the weak side in terms of technical power with low-quality textures. However, the art direction is very good and helps set the ambience of the game. Soundtrack is one of the best of its generation and something that needs to be experienced.

Combat is action-based and while fun, it can start getting repetitive as you play in the later stages of the game. There are light RPG elements sprinkled in the game with weapon and move upgrades.

Overall NieR is a weird niche game that is worth exploring, providing variety and replay value with a different number of endings.

Agreed, and well said! Just played and loved it, despite the combat getting repetitive and easy as well. Also, nice profile pic, I have to say!
