Hats off to Retro Studios for being able to develop a wonderful transition of the Metroid universe from 2d to 3d. Metroid Prime was successfully able to convey the same exploration and world-exploring aspects of the previous games in a whole new way using the GameCube hardware power.

The first-person adventure/shooter gameplay worked great and exploring the different areas while uncovering new items and backtracking was great. The scanning of objects was a great way to gather information about enemies and expand the lore of the Metroid series via different objects such as murals. Some of the backtracking and later areas in the game can drag the experience a bit but for the most part the level design in this game is amazing.

All in all, this was a great way to bring the series to the 3D realm and I don't think there could have been a better way of doing it, Retro studios really nailed this one and paved the way for other Prime entries.
